Why Was Twitter Created?
The answer to the question “why was Twitter created?” is as complex as the product itself. Its founders are Evan Williams, Jack Dorsey, and Biz Stone, four guys from Oden who joined forces in 2009 and are still responsible for the success of the service. Founders Evan Williams and Jack Dorsey are known for being open and honest, but the question is what makes them so special? We’ll explore their story in this article.
Oden founder Glass
Noah Glass was one of the co-founders of Twitter, and he left in 2006. He then started a new company called Odeo with Ev Williams. Read also : How to Find a Twitter Account by Phone Number. His vision was to build a podcasting platform similar to iTunes, but the company was overwhelmed by the popularity of Apple’s podcasting service. As such, Glass spent a day searching the dictionary for a name for his new company, and he settled on Twitter.
When Evan Williams sold Blogger to Google in 2003, Noah Glass and Biz Stone joined the company. Glass was put in charge of the company, but soon left after becoming CEO. Glass had originally wanted to spin the service away from Odeo, but Evan Williams was not so sure and bought back Odeo’s assets and replaced him as CEO. The two then collaborated on the new podcasting platform, which is now known as Obvious.
Evan Williams
The CEO of Twitter, Evan Williams, is visiting the University of Nebraska-Lincoln April 10 to give a talk on the company’s origins and future. The talk will include a question-and-answer session with students and a live streaming of the event on the internet. See the article : How Do I Unfollow Everyone Who Doesn’t Follow Me on Twitter?. While the event is free and open to the public, it is worth watching for the polarizing remarks that Williams is likely to make.
Before Twitter, Evan Williams co-founded another startup, Odeo. After the launch of iTunes, Odeo became an obsolete platform, which led Williams to buy out its investors and focus on 140-character status updates. Evan Williams also has a presence on other platforms. His latest project, Medium, is a social blogging platform, which has become one of the most popular social media sites. In his previous ventures, he co-founded a podcasting platform called Odeo.
Jack Dorsey
The founder of Twitter, Jack Dorsey, has shared his story on “60 Minutes.” As a child, he was plagued by a speech impediment and spent countless hours listening to police scanners. Dorsey says he learned to use Twitter in the same way that he used emergency radios – through the lens of social media.
Since Jack was a founder of Twitter, he has left the company and started his own company, Square SQ. This has caused a media firestorm, with Jack Dorsey taking almost every interview he could find to promote his narrative. He’s even claiming to be the only inventor of the platform, which he founded with Noah Glass, Biz Stone, and Ev Williams.
Biz Stone
Biz Stone co-founded Twitter in 2006. Previously, he served as the creative director of Xanga and later co-founded Jelly, a social media website driven by visual imagery. Jelly was acquired by Pinterest in 2017. Biz Stone is now an active angel investor and serves on the board of several companies. He is also a judge for the Webby Awards. His return to Twitter will allow him to improve the company’s internal communication and morale.
Despite the success of Twitter, some people still don’t understand why the company was so successful. Stone’s humble beginnings are not without some interesting facts. Stone grew up in Brooklyn and attended two Boston universities. He also worked as a designer at the company Little, Brown. He was an early contributor to the Xanga blogging community. In addition to Twitter, he was also a co-founder of Odeo, a podcasting platform.
