Ncuti Gatwa joins Doctor Who
Doctor Who has just announced a new member – actor Ncuti Gatwa. The new Doctor will be the first Black actor to play the title role full-time. He will be the series’ 14th Time Lord and the second youngest ever to hold the role. Gatwa first teased the casting of the Doctor on Instagram, where he posted four emojis. However, the BBC didn’t seem pleased with the actor’s choice to wear illegal Doctor Who merch.
Ncuti Gatwa is a huge fan of Doctor Who and said that he wanted to embodie the role in his own way. The actor did not specify who his favorite actor was, citing only his own talent as the most important factor in being cast. However, Russell T. Davies, the show’s creator, told The Sun that Gatwa’s talent is what was most important when casting him.
Jodie Whittaker’s debut as first female Time Lord
The thirteenth Doctor, played by Jodie Whittaker, made her debut on Doctor Who this Christmas special. She will be leaving her role permanently two years from now, when the 60th anniversary of the show is held. The episode is expected to feature a multi-Doctor turnout. Among the many fans who have expressed their enthusiasm for Whittaker’s Doctor:
In the episode, the Doctor is joined by his companions Ryan Sinclair (a warehouse packer with dyspraxia) and PC Yasmin Khan, a former TARDIS companion. The Doctor and the crew are caught up in the race to reach the Ghost Monument before the planet completes one rotation. During the event, the Doctor learns that the TARDIS is stuck in mid-phasing, and he and his companions are forced to find a way to escape. Graham and Ryan work on repairing the TARDIS and eventually rescue the new friends, while the Doctor and his companions travel on an unmanned solar-powered boat to a ruined civilisation. Crossover with Marvel’s Eternals
The thirteenth season of Doctor Who begins on Halloween, just a few days before the Marvel Cinematic Universe release of Eternals. The show and movie seem to have something in common, and in the premiere episode of the new series, a series of circular patterns appeared. These patterns are reminiscent of the language of Doctor Who, which uses circular symbols to communicate. It also appears that the two shows may have a crossover of some sort.
The movie was an incredible crossover, but it suffered from several weaknesses. Eternals’s plot was confusing and unsatisfying, and its ambiguous location within the MCU made it an uneven watch. But it was nevertheless an exciting introduction to a universe of fantastical beings. The film introduced new characters, a few familiar ones, and introduced some intriguing new concepts. It also gave viewers a better understanding of where the characters fit within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The crossover with Doctor Who also hints at a potential future of the character, who could possibly be brought back in the near future.
