How Do I Troubleshoot Something That’s Not Working on Facebook?
To start troubleshooting, check if Facebook is experiencing a system or site-wide issue. Try to log in on another device. If you still have trouble, download Down Detector and check if Facebook is down. Otherwise, try clearing your browser’s cache and cookies. If none of these steps helps, try restarting your device. If none of these solutions fixes your problem, try another method that may help you.
Clearing stored cookies
If you’ve tried to clear your browser’s cache, but to no avail, you may need to check your Internet connection. If the speed of your connection is low, your Facebook experience might be compromised. Use a speed-test tool to find out. If that doesn’t fix the issue, try contacting your service provider. If all else fails, you can try restarting your router.
In iOS devices, you can also clear the cache by going to the settings menu and selecting the Apps section. Under “General” select “Clear Data and Caches.” You can also go into Settings & Privacy -> Apps. Scroll down to “Clear Browsing Data” and tap Clear Browsing Data. Note: This does not delete all data from the Facebook app; you must reinstall it.
After clearing the cookies, try changing the settings of your browser to accept third-party cookies. Some sites will be less friendly if you clear all of their cookies. Clearing all of your cookies may also cause issues with loading or formatting. Nevertheless, this may be the easiest way to get back your Facebook experience. You will need to update the settings again if they were changed by the third-party site.
Restarting your device
The first thing to try when something isn’t working on Facebook is a restart. Typically, restarting your device resolves 90% of all tech issues, and this can also solve your Facebook problem. If you are unable to log into Facebook, the browser may be slow, or your Internet connection might be too slow. Try resetting your browser to see if that helps. You can also try restarting your router.
If your Facebook application isn’t loading, it might be due to your device’s battery optimizer or facility saving mode. To disable battery saver or facility saving mode, navigate to the Settings menu and turn off “Battery Saver” and “Factory Reset”. This method will usually resolve your issue. If none of these work, you might want to try restarting your device.
Another way to restart your device is by closing other applications. First, make sure you close any background apps that may be running on your device. Having multiple apps running on your device can cause a conflict with Facebook, so close any apps that may be running in the background. If you’re using a Windows computer, you can try restarting your device from the desktop using the Start menu.
Restarting your browser
If you’ve tried refreshing Facebook but it’s still not working, you may need to clear your cache and RAM by restarting your browser. In addition to restarting your browser, you may also need to turn off any security software, which could be affecting its performance or blocking Facebook. Then, open the menu and choose “about” from the list of options. Restarting your browser may fix the problem, or it may just require a reboot.
Another possible cause of your problem is an add-on that is blocking access to Facebook. You might have an older version of an add-on that is preventing access to Facebook. To resolve this, you can either disable or update the add-ons. Another way to fix this is to check your browser’s proxy settings. You may need to reset the proxy settings to see if this fixes the problem.
If the issue persists, try opening Facebook in another browser. Mozilla Firefox and Microsoft Edge work perfectly well for this, but if you’re having problems with Google Chrome, try using one of these other browsers. You might be having trouble opening Facebook because of a problem with DNS entries or host files. Once you’ve disabled any extensions, restart your browser. Hopefully, it will solve the problem.
