Facebook Portal – Is it Worth the Price?
If you’re looking for a standalone video conferencing device, Facebook Portal will increasingly be used by remote workers. Facebook will launch a program next year to bulk order Portals for businesses. And while Portals are mostly used for family meetings, there’s been an increase in work meetings since last year’s pandemic shutdowns. In fact, a recent survey found that nearly half of business meetings took place through Facebook Portal.
Features
The Facebook Portal comes with several smart features, including an AI-powered camera and intelligent sound feature. Its camera can be adjusted to follow you around the room and capture videos. Its intelligent sound feature uses four microphones to cancel out background noise and amplify the speaker’s voice. This may interest you : How Long Has Facebook Been Around?. You can even disable the camera with a simple tap and cover the lens to prevent other people from hearing your voice. With these features, you can record quality video and sound.
The Facebook Portal offers users an experience similar to a desktop PC or a laptop, with the exception of mobile devices. The Facebook Portal comes with a 10 inch frame and a 15.6-inch screen. The Portal has several features, including local weather and children’s stories. Its Watch app lets you watch featured Facebook videos, livestream games, and saved videos. Price
Facebook has finally launched its first hardware product – the Portal. Designed to make video calls, the Portal can follow you around your room to see what you’re doing. The company delayed the launch of Portal after the Cambridge Analytica scandal exposed its lack of data controls. Read also : What is Facebook Pay?. And just before the Portal was released, Facebook announced that another data breach had occurred. So, is the Facebook Portal worth the price? Well, it’s hard to say, but we can expect it to be an instant hit among Facebook users, but it’s certainly not a bargain.
The Portal is available in two sizes, the Portal+ and the standard version. The Portal+ costs $349 and comes with a screen that rotates into landscape and portrait modes. The smaller Portal is priced at $199, but comes with a 720p screen. There are even Portal bundles, which knock $100 off the price of both devices. The price differences may not seem substantial, but the Portal bundle is a nod to the intended demographic of the device. Families with small children may find the new gadget appealing, as they may be able to use it to connect with their children or grandparents hundreds of miles away.
Privacy concerns
The Facebook Portal smart speaker has received criticism for its lack of privacy. While it does have voice-control features, motion-tracking technology, and a 12-megapixel camera, it’s also not the only smart home gadget that Facebook is testing out. Many tech companies are gathering more data on consumers than Facebook. On the same subject : How Do I Join a Class Action Lawsuit Against Facebook?. And, because the company said “private by design,” they have had to backtrack on that statement. The company is now expanding its reach into other markets and hasn’t released a new timeline for when it’ll release the Portal TV.
The Facebook Portal’s camera and microphone can track movement and improve audio, but none of these data are sent to Facebook’s cloud. Additionally, WhatsApp and Messenger calls are encrypted in transit and end-to-end, and the Portal doesn’t have access to the content you send and receive. Regardless of how secure the platform is, users should be aware that these cameras and microphones are always on. They may not always be completely private, but Facebook is taking steps to ensure that the security of their data is high.
Price range
To set a price range for your Facebook Portal, you need to edit the “about us” tab. You can enter one to four dollar signs to indicate a range. You can also leave the price range unspecified. A general rule of thumb is that you should set a price range between $0.01 and $10. This will give your Facebook fans an idea of how much your products are. This way, they can decide whether they’re interested in your products or not.
You can buy a Portal in two sizes: the Portal+ is $349, while the smaller Portal costs $179. A Portal looks like a digital picture frame and fits anywhere in your home. Your family and friends can view pictures, videos, and memories on your portal screen. You can even hold Zoom meetings with up to 50 participants. If you’re in the market for a new video calling device, check out the price range for the Portal. It has an average 4.6-star rating from nearly 8,500 customers.
Availability
While the Portal was originally slated for a May announcement at the F8 developer conference, the company canceled it amid the Cambridge Analytica scandal and congressional testimony from Mark Zuckerberg. Since then, Facebook has been surrounded by privacy and “fake news” scandals. This is Facebook’s first hardware device since a security breach in 2013. But the social networking giant has had difficulty breaking through with hardware. Here’s a look at the Portal.
Facebook has addressed privacy concerns by requiring the Portal to have a passcode that is different than a user’s name. To enable the passcode, users must go into Settings and click on Passcode. Once they do, the Portal will ask for a four-digit code. If the user enters the wrong code, the Portal will not be able to access their account. Changing the passcode settings will prevent unauthorized access to Facebook.
