Despite the many different types of videos, there are some genres that can easily be categorized. The hottest genres are gaming videos, comedy videos, and pranks. Some of these channels are so popular that they have entire sub-genres. For example, a video game channel can have ten million subscribers, while a comedy channel might have just one video.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Smosh\"><\/span>Smosh<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Smosh is an Internet phenomenon. The game has over 7.2 million subscribers and more than two billion video views. The idea for Smosh came about almost a decade ago. In just four months, Smosh reached one million subscribers. It also achieved the highest number of lifetime views in less than a week. The game has even been adapted into a movie. Johnson&#8217;s YouTube channel began bleeding subscribers, but then had a surprise turnaround in August. He started posting Daily TikTok shorts, which went viral and helped him regain lost subscribers. His subscriber count topped 10 million again. But the success of his content is not over yet. He is currently approaching another milestone and may even break the 10-million-subscriber mark.<\/p>\n<p>In 2013, Ray William Johnson began producing scripted series. The series Riley Rewind began in December 2013, and was originally released on Facebook before being shifted to YouTube. The plot revolved around Riley, a teenager with special time-shifting powers. The series was released in five parts and had over 10 million views on Facebook by 2015. Johnson also continued producing comedy material for his main channel, including Top 6, a series in which he and Kelly Landry discuss six different items each episode. His videos have gained a loyal following of fans across all age groups and geographies.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Ariana_Grande\"><\/span>Ariana Grande<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Ariana Grande has surpassed Katy Perry and Taylor Swift in YouTube subscriber count. She now has over 32 million subscribers and continues to grow. Ariana Grande started her YouTube channel in 2007 and has shared videos with fans since then. Her first video on the platform was a dance video featuring Grande and her friend Misha. Ariana has surpassed her former record-breaking subscriber count by more than four million.<\/p>\n<p>The most popular music videos on YouTube are those with the most subscribers. Ariana Grande earns about $ 1.21 per thousand views and is earning an estimated $651k each year. Katy Perry is the 4th most popular YouTube star with 38 million subscribers and over 20 billion video views.
