As the creators of YouTube Shorts have fewer hours to produce content, it is hard to find brand deals for such content. But there is good news: YouTube is looking to increase the number of viewers for Shorts.<\/p>\n<p>One way to increase views for your shorts is to create an engaging thumbnail image. This way, users can quickly decide whether the video is worth watching. If the thumbnail image is misleading, they may not subscribe to your channel. Therefore, you should carefully choose the thumbnail image. It is also important to keep the content of the short-form video relevant. Because YouTube Shorts aren&#8217;t subject to censorship or content licensing restrictions, they can be related to any genre or subject matter. Similar to the popular video app, YouTube Shorts allows users to string together clips in a short time. Users can also add captions and tags to videos. In the US, the service will roll out in beta on 18 March 2021. TikTok allows users to post up to one minute-long videos, but this new feature will be much more limited.<\/p>\n<p>Creators of TikTok-style videos may be drawn to YouTube Shorts as the platform has a more reliable audience than TikTok. TikTok users are worried about the trend dampening creativity, as users are sensitive to the same videos posted on different platforms. YouTube is also considering adding a dedicated Shorts tab within the YouTube mobile app. YouTube will continue to experiment with monetization options for Shorts and other formats to stay ahead of the competition.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"YouTubes_version_of_TikTok\"><\/span>YouTube&#8217;s version of TikTok<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>After launching TikTok, YouTube has now unveiled a rival app called YouTube Shorts. Like its rival, it&#8217;s a short-form video-making app with an interface reminiscent of TikTok. YouTube Shorts aren&#8217;t standalone apps, but a new carousel on the home tab of the YouTube mobile app. The company plans to add a Shorts tab to its official YouTube app in the near future.<\/p>\n<p>Although TikTok has a video editor, YouTube Shorts don&#8217;t have that capability. TikTok videos can include music, tons of effects, and variable playback speeds. YouTube Shorts, on the other hand, only have speed controls and limited music options. The app is currently used by 40 million people in the United States, though its native China boasts 400 million active users.<\/p>\n<p>Though the two platforms are competing against each other, YouTube is integrating TikTok&#8217;s platform with its own. For example, creators of TikTok videos can now sample audio from other YouTube videos. And because YouTube understands the market for short-form content, it&#8217;s also experimenting with video formats that mimic the format of other video sharing platforms.
