Often, you&#8217;ll find the message has disappeared before you can actually see it. Fortunately, you can still see it if you know their username.<\/p>\n<p>You may not be able to see the DM request if you&#8217;re not using Instagram&#8217;s feature. Instagram uses a special inbox for storing messages, similar to your &#8220;other&#8221; inbox on Facebook. Messages from unknown accounts can go unnoticed for several days. To prevent this from happening, you should familiarize yourself with your DM inbox and check it frequently. To read a message, tap &#8220;requests&#8221; and select &#8220;approve&#8221; or &#8220;reject.&#8221;<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Cant_delete_them\"><\/span>Can&#8217;t delete them<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>If you receive messages on your Instagram account, but can&#8217;t delete them, then you&#8217;re not alone. Fortunately, there are ways to get rid of unwanted message requests. All you have to do is open the Instagram app and swipe right or left from your home screen to access the message requests. Once you&#8217;ve found the message you want to delete, swipe right or left again and select &#8220;delete&#8221; from the middle option.<\/p>\n<p>Using third-party applications to unsubscribe from certain Instagram accounts will allow you to easily delete multiple messages from one account. These apps are available for Android users and automate repeated taps to unsubscribe from certain people. You can even use the scripting feature of these apps to unsend multiple messages. While these third-party apps may be time consuming, they&#8217;re safe and reliable. And if you&#8217;re an Instagram beginner, you can try out the free version and see if it works for you.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Cant_block_them\"><\/span>Can&#8217;t block them<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>If someone has tagged you in a post, you may want to block them. When you block someone, they will not be able to mention you, tag you, comment, or like your post. You will still be able to view the previous chat history, however. Unfortunately, blocking someone won&#8217;t notify them that they have been blocked. You may be able to work around this by unblocking the person you blocked.<\/p>\n<p>Thankfully, there is a simple way to turn off message requests on Instagram. First, you can enable or disable notification settings. This way, only the people you follow will be able to send you messages. To enable this feature, simply upgrade to the latest version of the Instagram app. On the desktop, you can also turn off notifications and customize them according to your preference. If you can&#8217;t find the settings for this feature, simply visit the Instagram Help Center and look for the feature that will help you block messages.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Filter_them\"><\/span>Filter them<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>You can filter message requests on Instagram if you get too many unwanted messages. Instagram will ask you for permission to receive messages from people you do not follow. By disabling these requests, you can prevent them from appearing on your feed. To enable this feature, you must first update the Instagram app on your phone. After this, you can turn off the notifications by tapping the notification icon. If you want to block a user, you can report him or her by tapping on the person&#8217;s profile image.<\/p>\n<p>Another new feature that Instagram introduced recently is the filtering of DMs. When you receive messages containing words and phrases that violate its terms of service, you can choose to filter them. If a message contains any of these words or phrases, it will automatically be filed in a hidden folder. Once you&#8217;re done with your message filtering, you can open the hidden messages and tap on them to read them.
