After completing college, Systrom worked at Google and later became an Associate Product Marketing Manager. He then left the company in 2009 to join Facebook.<\/p>\n<p>Before starting Instagram, Systrom founded Burbn, a photo-sharing application centered around destination check-ins and recommendations. This was the precursor to Instagram, which merged location-based social networking with photo-sharing. Nextstop was acquired by Burbn. In the year following, Systrom founded the company, which has since surpassed a billion users. In addition to the Facebook acquisition of Instagram, Systrom was named one of the world&#8217;s richest people by Forbes.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Mike_Krieger\"><\/span>Mike Krieger<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>If you haven&#8217;t heard about Instagram, it&#8217;s a photo-sharing app that is owned by Kevin Systrom and Mike Krieger. They created the app at the stroke of midnight on October 6, 2010. On September 17, 2012, Facebook bought Instagram for $1 billion. As a result, Systrom and Krieger became incredibly wealthy overnight. The next year, they left Facebook to pursue other business opportunities. Today, Instagram is a global social media phenomenon, and Systrom continues to be one of its most influential executives.<\/p>\n<p>Krieger received a master&#8217;s degree in Symbolic Systems at Stanford University. He also worked as an engineer and user experience designer for the social networking site Meebo, Inc. During his time at Stanford, he helped Systrom build the site that is now a billion-dollar business. Facebook, whose CEO is Mark Zuckerberg, has made a few announcements that could potentially change the way people use the app. First, the company plans to offer creators a way to generate revenue. This would include a marketplace where brands could hire a creator and pay them for their work. Currently, many social media creators earn money by posting sponsored content. This marketplace would make it easier for brands to discover up-and-coming creators on the platform.<\/p>\n<p>Another interesting development for users of Instagram is the potential integration of NFTs. Although the founder and CEO of Square, Twitter, was also a frequent Instagram user, Dorsey had a history of being close to Instagram&#8217;s founder, Kevin Systrom. In the book, No Filter: The Inside Story of Instagram, Bloomberg reporter Sarah Frier describes how Dorsey&#8217;s final post on Instagram made him feel bad. &#8220;I was upset because Systrom had not contacted me,&#8221; Dorsey said. &#8220;I wanted to negotiate with Twitter, but he didn&#8217;t call me,&#8221; Frier wrote, confirming Dorsey&#8217;s comments.<\/p>\n<p>The Twitter CEO poked fun at Facebook and other social networks in a tweet that was seen around the world. In response, Instagram founder and CEO, Jack Dorsey, posted a photo of himself laughing at the challengers of the 100-metre sprint.
