Among its innovations, Instagram introduced the Boomerang app, which lets users take a one-second burst of five photos. This feature has made the service more popular among celebrities, which is why Instagram has been acquired by Facebook in April 2012.<\/p>\n<p>Systrom first developed the Instagram aesthetic in Florence, where he used a cheap film camera called a Holga. This camera takes hip vintage-style photos. Later, Systrom interned at a podcasting company, Odeo, which was founded by Evan Williams, the man who would later found Twitter. It was only 1.5 years later that Facebook bought it for $1 billion. Originally a Stanford University student, Krieger was an early adopter of programming. Eventually, he began to pursue a career in technology, and he co-founded Instagram with Systrom.
