To help you block abusive comments, you should make sure to add certain words to your blocked list.<\/p>\n<p>While blocking a single user isn&#8217;t an effective solution, you can use Instagram&#8217;s &#8220;Restrict&#8221; feature to hide abusive comments and spam. While this feature will not block the offender, it will allow you to monitor their actions on the platform. It also means that Instagram will block new accounts they&#8217;ve created on your account. This feature is useful because many harassers will use a different device when they log in after blocking you.<\/p>\n<p>Despite recent improvements, blocking abusive comments on Instagram still has its problems. There are two main ways to prevent them. You can block the account or restrict them from sending you direct messages. You can block abusive messages by turning off the option for direct messages, as well as block the same user across multiple accounts. Instagram has implemented this option in April, but you should keep in mind that blocking is still the best option. This feature will allow you to see a list of your blocked users and will ensure that your account is safe.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Hide_direct_messages\"><\/span>Hide direct messages<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Whether you&#8217;re trying to keep your private life private, or you&#8217;re simply not interested in receiving dozens of direct messages every day, you can easily turn off the feature and turn off Instagram&#8217;s direct messaging. While the platform allows users to turn off notifications for various features, desktop users can&#8217;t customize these options as well. If you&#8217;d rather not receive direct messages, however, you can hide direct messages on Instagram from non-followers.<\/p>\n<p>If you have a hard time remembering the username of the person you&#8217;re corresponding with on Instagram, you can easily find their DMs by tapping the paper plane icon in the top-right corner. This way, anyone who wants to contact you won&#8217;t be able to see the message. The other way to hide messages on Instagram is to delete the person&#8217;s account. To delete the messages, open Instagram and click on &#8220;unsubscribe&#8221; to prevent any future direct messages.<\/p>\n<p>If you&#8217;d prefer not to receive DMs from others, you can easily read them without sending scenes. Moreover, you can keep using the Instagram Direct, as long as you don&#8217;t open the conversation for which you want to hide the scenes. Otherwise, the sender will receive a scene receipt and won&#8217;t know you&#8217;ve read their message. To hide direct messages on Instagram, you can follow the steps below.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Hide_comments\"><\/span>Hide comments<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>In addition to allowing you to block certain people, Instagram also gives you the option to hide offensive content from others. You can set a list of words, phrases, numbers, or emojis that you don&#8217;t want people to see. These words won&#8217;t show up in comments, but they will still count towards your total number of comments. Hide messages are not visible to the person you&#8217;re following, so it&#8217;s a great way to protect your personal space.<\/p>\n<p>Instagram recently introduced a new feature called advanced comment filtering that automatically deletes offensive comments. The feature is disabled by default but can be turned on if you want to protect your community from harassment and hate speech. You can add multiple email addresses to your account and set notifications for when certain rules are triggered. This means you&#8217;ll never miss another comment. However, if you do find an offensive comment on a public post, you&#8217;ll be notified when someone comments again by email.<\/p>\n<p>The Restrict feature is only available to some users, so not all of them will have access to it. To use the Restrict feature, press the &#8220;message&#8221; icon to the right of the user&#8217;s name and hold it down for a few seconds. Once the screen appears, click &#8220;Restrict&#8221; under their name and you&#8217;ll be given options to either delete or unrestrict comments.
