By default, any messages from unknown Instagram users are sent to the Requests section of your Instagram profile. To turn off message requests from people you don&#8217;t follow, go to Settings, Privacy, Messages, and click &#8220;Only people you follow&#8221; in order to prevent such messages from ever reaching your inbox.<\/p>\n<p>Message requests from people you don&#8217;t follow on your Instagram profile will disappear after a while. It&#8217;s important to check the person&#8217;s profile, since you can only see the messages you&#8217;ve sent if they are not unsent. This feature is similar to Facebook&#8217;s &#8220;other&#8221; inbox. However, if you&#8217;re receiving these messages from unknown accounts, you may want to take steps to prevent them. Fortunately, Instagram offers a simple solution. In order to hide message requests, you&#8217;ll need to enable the feature. In this article, we&#8217;ll show you how to do just that.<\/p>\n<p>By enabling this feature, you&#8217;ll ensure that messages sent by people you don&#8217;t follow never land in your inbox. This way, you&#8217;ll know whether the message was read.
