He joined the social network in 2008 as a Product Designer and rose to management roles within a year. He also co-founded the architecture firm Blank Mosseri, serving as a creative director for five years. But his appointment as head of Instagram raises questions about whether Zuckerberg can keep the company on track without him.<\/p>\n<p>He has extensive experience dealing with the unintended consequences of Facebook&#8217;s News Feed. In 2016, his company faced mounting tensions over fake news and its impact on culture and politics. In this interview, he comes off as sharp and serious, but also empathetic. He firmly believes that Facebook has a chance to make a positive impact on the world, and he&#8217;s clearly aware of the complexity of Facebook.<\/p>\n<p>Despite his impressive track record, Mosseri has made a few missteps. He defended Facebook News&#8217; inclusion of Breitbart News. And he&#8217;s argued against breaking Facebook up, arguing that the move would make Instagram less safe. This is all the more impressive given that Facebook&#8217;s News and Instagram&#8217;s are the same thing. Regardless of how the two platforms differ, they&#8217;re similar in purpose.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Kevin_Systrom\"><\/span>Kevin Systrom<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>If you&#8217;re wondering who the CEO of Instagram is, you&#8217;re in luck. Systrom&#8217;s background spans several fields. He studied photography in Italy as part of an exchange program, where he developed an interest in color enhancement. He later attended Stanford University and met Mike Krieger, one of his co-founders. While at Stanford, he developed his coding skills in his spare time. Later, he joined Nextstop, where he developed the first version of Instagram.<\/p>\n<p>After a few months of hard work and a lot of hard work, Instagram became profitable. In April 2012, Facebook bought it for $1 billion. The CEO has since invested in three companies and taken a hands-off approach while running the company. But Systrom is determined to keep the company competitive. He&#8217;s steered the company towards video sharing and is actively looking for opportunities to integrate VR into the product.<\/p>\n<p>Systrom is not afraid to admit that the first version of Instagram didn&#8217;t make users happy. He had access to Photoshop and spent hours on his desk learning the software. He even learned about color filters through online video tutorials. Unlike many users, Instagram&#8217;s photo filters are more intuitive and relevant to their lives. That&#8217;s why Systrom has become a respected name in the world of social media. It&#8217;s no wonder that Systrom is the ceo of Instagram.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Mike_Krieger\"><\/span>Mike Krieger<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>The founders of Instagram, Kevin Systrom and Mike Krieger, met while they were at Stanford University. Krieger initially had his mind set on building a social location app called Burbn. But Systrom decided to switch gears, and Instagram was born. He took his love of photography and bourbon and combined it with a social feed. Instagram quickly became popular in Silicon Valley and was acquired by Facebook for $715 million in 2012. As Systrom and Krieger grew the company, Facebook provided them with the resources they needed to grow.<\/p>\n<p>Facebook also agreed to let Instagram continue operating independently, though that autonomy has been eroded over time. Instagram co-founders Systrom and Krieger are stepping down. The company has not said why Systrom is leaving. The departure of Koum and Krieger leaves Facebook without two of its largest revenue generators. Facebook declined to comment on the news. The departure of the co-founders of Instagram comes amid the recent criticism that Facebook has failed to protect customer data. The two co-founders also had disagreements with Facebook management about a recent change in the product.<\/p>\n<p>During his time at Google, Krieger worked on the corporate development and marketing aspects of the company. Later, he built an app called Burbn, which allowed location-aware photo sharing. In this role, he met Mike Krieger, who was a Burbn user and co-founder.
