To do this, open the Instagram application and tap the messaging icon in the top right corner. Tap the conversation you want to mark as unread, and then hold the conversation for a few seconds to bring up an options menu. Tap &#8216;Mark as unread&#8217;, and the message will appear with a blue dot or red box.<\/p>\n<p>Messages will not be labeled unread for the sender. However, this option is only available on corporate accounts. However, many Instagrammers don&#8217;t want to sign up for a commercial account just to access this feature. Not all Instagram users have this feature, and this is a frustrating inconvenience. While you can mark any message as unread, it won&#8217;t be visible to the sender. Unread messages appear in the inbox of the app, but you can also swipe down to view them. You can forward the message to yourself or create a note to review it in your calendar.<\/p>\n<p>While Instagram does not offer an &#8220;unread&#8221; inbox feature, you can restrict who can send you messages by choosing to mark them as unread. This is available in the direct message section of your profile. You can select the option &#8220;Restricted messages&#8221; and confirm it by selecting &#8220;Yes.&#8221; When you&#8217;re done, simply tap on the&#8217;more&#8217; button to mark a message as unread. The primary tab is for your essential users, while the other two are for your non-essential users. This feature is available only to business accounts, so if you use your personal account to engage with customers, you&#8217;ll have to switch it to a business account.
