More than half have told friends about a product after seeing an advertisement on Twitter. That is exactly what advertisers want to see &#8211; chain reactions of users sharing their love for the brand. Another surprising fact: 77% of Twitter users say they feel more positive toward a brand when they get a reply to a Tweet.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Usage_statistics\"><\/span>Usage statistics<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Amongst the usage statistics of Twitter, six out of ten users are men and forty percent are women. Its audience is more mature than its demographics show, with an average age of forty years. Men are more likely to use Twitter than women, with approximately 66 percent of males and 34 percent of females using the platform. Among the top 10% of users, the majority of tweets are political, with nearly a third of those tweets mentioning politics.<\/p>\n<p>According to eMarketer, Twitter&#8217;s usage is expected to grow a significant amount in the next few years, with a peak in 2022. Twitter&#8217;s usage trends are similar to those of other social media platforms, with nearly half of all users being between 18 and 29 years old. This suggests that Twitter may be experiencing a user growth slump, but it will take time for new users from other age groups to make up for the lost numbers.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Demographics\"><\/span>Demographics<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>The following infographics show the demographics of people who use Twitter. Twitter is most popular among young adults. It has a 38% male to female skewed audience. While other social media platforms have an even distribution of age and education, Twitter has a higher percentage of young adults with post-secondary degrees. The majority of people using Twitter are employed. In the US, 31% of Twitter users earn $75,000 or more a year, while a third make less than $30,000.<\/p>\n<p>As far as gender goes, Twitter has the largest gender disparity. Sixty-eight percent of Twitter users are men. Ex-US president Barack Obama still has the largest Twitter following, while Elon Musk has seen his following grow rapidly over the past two years. It seems that affluence has a strong influence on who uses Twitter. Regardless of age, the numbers show that Twitter users are not representative of the American population.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Revenue\"><\/span>Revenue<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>If you&#8217;re wondering how much revenue is generated by Twitter, you&#8217;re not alone. The number of users on Twitter continues to rise, but the actual revenue generated by the platform remains a mystery. While the company claims to provide a free environment for speech and ideas, the number of users on Twitter fluctuates between 36 million and 38 million. Twitter makes the majority of its revenue from advertising. In fact, advertising accounts for 85% of Twitter&#8217;s revenue. The company makes money from several different revenue streams, including Promoted Ads, Follower Ads, and Trend Takeovers.<\/p>\n<p>The company reports revenue based on a number of metrics. Ad engagements are defined as the number of people who follow a promoted account or engage with an ad. Engagement can also include retweeting an ad, replying to promoted tweets, viewing an embedded video, and completing a transaction on a third-party website. Ad engagement helps measure the connection between a product or service and a user, and helps determine whether Twitter&#8217;s advertising efforts are working.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Active_users\"><\/span>Active users<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>To measure user growth, Twitter invented the &#8220;mDAU&#8221; metric, or monthly daily active users. This metric is not comparable to other companies&#8217; disclosures of daily active users, which are much broader. But it does give some insight into the power of Twitter&#8217;s popularity. The metric represents how many users visit the site every day and are able to view ads. It also reflects the growing importance of Twitter&#8217;s demographics, since the metric accounts for both monetizable and non-monetizable users.<\/p>\n<p>Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter reported their own figures. Facebook reported a combined 1.32 billion monthly active users, up from a year ago. In the U.S. and Canada, Facebook reports a combined 184 million daily users. Twitter reports that it has 284 million monthly active users, with two-thirds of those on mobile. Meanwhile, Snapchat and Whatsapp claim to have over 187 million daily users. LinkedIn, on the other hand, reports that it has 313 million daily active users.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Average_tweet_frequency\"><\/span>Average tweet frequency<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>To make the most of your Twitter presence, it&#8217;s a good idea to tweet up to 30 times a day. Not only does this increase your chances of engaging with your fans, but it also increases your total response. Remember, the higher the number of tweets, the higher the total response. If you&#8217;re unsure of the best frequency, test it out yourself with a few tweets and see how you do.<\/p>\n<p>One thing to keep in mind is that people in different time zones have different levels of Twitter engagement. If you want to get the most engagement, try posting during non-peak hours. While this may sound counterintuitive, it makes sense. After all, most users are likely to be on Twitter during the weekday, when tweet volume is lowest.
