The ban came as a result of Lindell&#8217;s posts that pushed the results of the 2020 presidential election to be disputed. Lindell was banned in January, a month after he publicly attended a rally with former President Donald Trump in Delaware, Ohio. Lindell&#8217;s new Twitter account was suspended three and a half hours after he posted the tweet, which was a violation of Twitter&#8217;s ban evasion rules.<\/p>\n<p>Lindell has continued to promote his campaign and has even threatened a costly lawsuit. He has also been threatened with the resignation of his board from his bedding company after declining sales. Meanwhile, Lindell&#8217;s political views are not changing. A Reuters request for comment on Lindell&#8217;s suspension did not produce any response from MyPillow or the company.<\/p>\n<p>Following the ban, Lindell tried to re-enter Twitter as a public figure. His new account was called @MikeJLindell and Lindell asked his followers to re-tweet the post. However, it turned out that there were many fake accounts using Lindell&#8217;s name to spread misinformation. Lindell&#8217;s new Twitter account is currently unavailable but he plans to return in the future.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"His_attempt_to_circumvent_a_ban\"><\/span>His attempt to circumvent a ban<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Following an outburst of rioters at the U.S. Capitol on Wednesday, the U.S. government banned Trump from using his own Twitter account. He regularly tweeted about his opponents, including the racial justice protesters and coronavirus. The tweets were immediately removed from the platform. The tweets of two loyal Trump supporters were also permanently banned from the social media platform. Some supporters said the move was politically motivated and that the president should have been allowed to use Twitter.<\/p>\n<p>Since the shutdown of the @realdonaldtrump account, a number of accounts have been sharing content from the new site. It is unclear whether individuals will be able to &#8220;circumvent&#8221; the ban. The BBC identified four accounts that shared the new site, though Twitter did not reply to its requests for comment. Of these, one account has a recent tweet referencing his attempt to circumvent a ban. Most of these accounts claim to be independent of Mr Trump and are unrelated to him.<\/p>\n<p>Lindell&#8217;s attempt to circumvent a ban from Twitter is one of many conservatives who have been banned from the social networking site. Last week, Republican operative Roger Stone attempted to set up a new account. That effort failed, and he was banned three and a half hours after sending his first tweet. His Twitter feed is full of pro-Trump propaganda, and the platform flags iffy content.<\/p>\n<p>Lindell is a member of the secretive Fellowship Foundation, which organizes the National Prayer Breakfast. Its members include a lawyer who has helped Trump. Other Family insiders have donated to Trump&#8217;s campaign. In addition, Lindell has publicly expressed his theocratic Christian beliefs, and he has called for the military to install him into his second term. Lindell also has an active prayer group, which he calls his &#8220;vision for America.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>While Mr Lindell&#8217;s relationship with Mr. Trump is far from a scandal, there are a number of signs that the two have become friends. Trump and Lindell appeared together on several occasions in 2016 and 2017. After that, Mr. Lindell attended a rally for Mr. Trump, which led to him receiving a personal lapel pin from the president-elect. The two have maintained a close relationship, with Mr. Trump even showing Lindell around D.C. and having him call his friend during a briefing.
