The company&#8217;s MAU base is now only five times larger than Facebook&#8217;s. It added 2 million new MAUs sequentially last quarter, versus Facebook&#8217;s 50 million. Its user growth is also coming from abroad, where monetization is weaker. But, the company hasn&#8217;t given up yet. It&#8217;s also not responding to investor questions about how much monetizable users it has.<\/p>\n<p>While Twitter has always been competing with Facebook and Google for users, its rapid growth has been slowing. The social networking site recently announced a new CEO, Jack Dorsey, who has run Square. Although Twitter&#8217;s CEO has been busy with the business of building Square, he has declared that user growth has slowed down. The company also revealed that early MAU additions in the third quarter were disappointing &#8211; they only grew eight percent year-over-year and grew 3% internationally.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Its_share_price_is_under_pressure\"><\/span>Its share price is under pressure<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>With a market cap of just over $50 billion, and $4 billion in cash on its balance sheet, Twitter can handle a $809.5 million loss. The risks, however, are related to the company&#8217;s valuation levels and general market sentiment. While Twitter has outlasted changes in Apple&#8217;s IDFA policy that led to a fall in its share price, it isn&#8217;t immune to threats in the market.<\/p>\n<p>If Elon Musk decides to pull out, Twitter could pocket the $1 billion and invest it in R&amp;D and more acquisitions to grow its business. It is unclear whether this deal will happen, but Twitter may benefit from the additional capital and give new CEO Parag Agrawal a chance to prove his mettle. With new leadership, Twitter could re-energize its business and revive its share price. The number of daily active users, a measure of whether a user views ads on the website, increased by six million to 217 million, however, the number fell short of Wall Street&#8217;s expectations of 218.5 million. Revenue rose, but costs grew faster than revenue. Additionally, Twitter&#8217;s forecast for its first quarter revenue fell short of analysts&#8217; expectations.<\/p>\n<p>The company believes adjusted free cash flow is useful because it provides a more conservative measure of cash flows. However, adjusted free cash flow does not necessarily represent funds available for discretionary use or to meet cash needs. Additionally, Twitter does not present these non-GAAP financial measures as a substitute for GAAP financial information. Since they are not prepared based on standardized methodologies, these measures cannot be easily compared to similarly titled measures provided by other companies.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Its_user_demographics\"><\/span>Its user demographics<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Several statistics have been compiled for Twitter&#8217;s user demographics. However, Japan, Canada, and the United Kingdom make up the top five countries by user number. The US account for the largest portion of Twitter users worldwide &#8211; 22% &#8211; is followed by the Japanese and the British at 12.6% and 6.01%, respectively.
