As a billionaire CEO, Musk clearly wants a piece of the Twitter pie. However, Musk has not ruled out selling Twitter in the future. The CEO of the social media platform spent much of Monday defending his company, explaining his efforts to fight spam accounts. While Twitter says that there are less than 5% of users who are actually fake, Musk wants the company to crack down on fake accounts.<\/p>\n<p>Musk has threatened to walk away from the deal if Twitter fails to prove that fewer than 5% of its daily active users are fake. Musk, however, has argued without proof that the company underestimated the amount of spam bots, which are automated accounts that promote misinformation and scams. Musk&#8217;s stance may prove to be the only way Twitter can stay relevant and profitable. Open-source algorithms are more theoretically legible if they&#8217;re subject to public scrutiny. If Musk is correct in his assessment of Twitter&#8217;s stance towards cryptocurrency scams, Twitter could win a huge prize.<\/p>\n<p>In his statement, Musk also acknowledged the existence of bots that follow his tweets, which include cryptocurrency scams. This problem has been a problem for a while now, and Musk has finally taken action to stop them. During the conference, Musk apologized to the Twitter community, citing the growing number of scams that are skewing its active user numbers.
