He joined the company 16 years ago and ascended rapidly through the ranks.<\/p>\n<p>Formerly an engineer and member of the research teams at Microsoft, Yahoo!, and AT&amp;T, Mr. Agrawal will continue Dorsey&#8217;s policies and strategies, including the plan to double revenue by 2023 and reshape the way social media companies operate. While Twitter faces a number of challenges &#8211; including slow user growth and misinformation and hate speech &#8211; Agrawal is likely to push ahead and try to regain lost users.<\/p>\n<p>While Agrawal has consistently ushered in new product development, Dorsey is likely to be disappointed with Agrawal. He implied in an interview last year that he would be ignoring the First Amendment. However, he is a popular choice for the job. Agrawal is an IIT Bombay and Stanford University graduate who has a track record of putting together successful startups.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"He_has_a_PhD_in_computer_science\"><\/span>He has a Ph.D. in computer science<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>The current CEO of Twitter has a Ph.D. in computer science. The reason is not surprising, as the company is tasked with juggling millions of pieces of data. Agrawal, 37, has worked in large technology companies before joining Twitter. He earned a Bachelor of Science in computer science and engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology in Bombay. His career also included research positions at Yahoo and AT&amp;T.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to his technical responsibilities, Agrawal also led the company&#8217;s efforts to advance artificial intelligence and machine learning. These advancements will allow users to make their own decisions about the way content is promoted. The project, called Bluesky, is under the CEO&#8217;s purview, and Agrawal has been actively involved. In his new position, he will receive an annual salary of $1 million as well as bonuses and performance-based stock units worth approximately $12.5 million.<\/p>\n<p>While working for AT&amp;T, Parag Agrawal was a software engineer before being named CEO. He was responsible for the company&#8217;s technology strategy and oversaw machine learning and artificial intelligence across science, consumer, and revenue teams. Before joining Twitter, Agrawal had spent several years at Yahoo, Microsoft, and AT&amp;T. He is self-aware and has a background in computer science.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"He_has_experience_in_product_development\"><\/span>He has experience in product development<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Agrawal&#8217;s background in engineering, along with his tenure at Twitter, have earned him a spot on the board of directors. Dorsey, the company&#8217;s co-founder, stressed that Agrawal&#8217;s appointment is a good fit, despite the fact that his selection will undoubtedly come under intense scrutiny from lawmakers. Twitter spokeswoman Liz Kelley told CNBC that Agrawal had made the decision to replace Davis and Montano. But she added that the move to hire Agrawal was the right one and that Montano and Davis left because of the organizational changes.<\/p>\n<p>Davis&#8217;s role has been tasked with boosting Twitter&#8217;s product development timeline. His team has rolled out a number of innovative features in the past two years, including deactivating racist algorithms and letting users post photos in their original aspect ratio. Among the innovations Davis has helped create is a team of 15 people who develop new concepts. While some critics have complained of his aggressive management style, the company&#8217;s product development team has responded by putting more emphasis on customer satisfaction.<\/p>\n<p>After Jack Dorsey returned as a part-time CEO in 2015, the company grew into a committee-driven organization, with executives in each team controlling their own fiefdom. As a result, features would regularly languish in development never to see the light of day. But Agrawal restructured Twitter&#8217;s executive team around three core divisions.
