Listed below are some of the reasons why.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Kevin_Systrom\"><\/span>Kevin Systrom<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>It&#8217;s difficult to tell when Instagram came out. The company was founded in 2010 but quickly gained popularity for the square image format. In November 2012, it added an online component, but did not change its core function. The new addition did not change the app&#8217;s popularity, however. Systrom is still an entrepreneur, recently becoming a Walmart board member. In spite of all the attention it has received, Instagram remains a top photo-sharing app and is still free to use.<\/p>\n<p>The company&#8217;s founder and CEO, Kevin Systrom, recently discussed his journey to success, how Instagram has grown inside Facebook, how to innovate without copying, and avoid being a cesspool. He later worked as a user interface developer at Meebo and Instagram, and served as an oral communications tutor for the program. In addition to his work in linguistics, Krieger has worked as an intern at Foxmarks, where he developed applications for its website.<\/p>\n<p>At first, Instagram&#8217;s success was rooted in its simplicity. Founders were able to explain the company in 30 seconds. This allowed them to pivot and refine their vision throughout the development process. Mike and Kevin also learned from other founders that it is important to learn from other people and get feedback from partners and friends. As the app became more popular, Krieger and Systrom continued to make technology improvements, such as making it compatible with Windows phones and Android smartphones. In 2011, Instagram added hashtags to search through posts and users. One photo, which she posted on Instagram, showcases the baby bump at different stages and shows Goulding posing with her son Arthur. In a caption, Ellie Goulding has opted for an emoji of a sun and a love heart, displaying how empowering her baby&#8217;s arrival is.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"James_Quarles\"><\/span>James Quarles<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>If you&#8217;re wondering when Instagram came out, you&#8217;re not alone. Many other startups are grappling with the same problem. Quarles has been involved in a number of digital communities, including Facebook and Instagram, and has learned from his experiences. He served as the company&#8217;s regional director for three years, where he helped the social media site grow its advertising business. As a result of his work at Facebook, he&#8217;s a familiar face with Instagram&#8217;s monetization challenges.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to his role as regional director at Facebook, Quarles will now serve as the company&#8217;s global head of business. In this role, he&#8217;ll report directly to company co-founder Kevin Systrom and oversee the company&#8217;s sales and marketing teams. He&#8217;ll likely come up with plans to generate extra revenue for the company. But for now, Instagram is still in the early stages. And it will take a few years before it makes a profit.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Emily_White\"><\/span>Emily White<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>The CEO of Instagram has recently switched her job to the Los Angeles area to compete with Facebook. While White has high regard for the potential of the business, her new job also puts her in direct competition with Facebook. With the explosion of videos on social networks, many companies are vying for attention. Snapchat and Instagram are both experiencing red-hot growth, though neither has yet surpassed Facebook. With fewer than 30 employees, Instagram may be able to compete with Facebook in terms of user base.<\/p>\n<p>The move comes as a shock to some. Instagram&#8217;s business chief is poised for an expansion of its ad business. The new hire, who has spent the past year working with Snapchat co-founder Kevin Systrom, is the next step for the company. While many analysts are skeptical of this move, White&#8217;s presence at Instagram could help Snapchat scale operations. Earlier this year, Snapchat was reportedly being considered by Facebook and other tech giants for acquisition. The company has been working hard to find top talent and scale its business.
