Whether you&#8217;re on a PC or on a mobile device, there are several ways to play a YouTube video in the background.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Brave_Browser\"><\/span>Brave Browser<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>If you&#8217;ve been wondering how to watch YouTube videos in the background on your Android device, the answer is not as complicated as it seems. In order to enable this feature on Brave, go to the settings menu and select &#8220;Background video.&#8221; Alternatively, you can do it in Chrome by opening up the browser&#8217;s options and tapping the &#8220;Media&#8221; tab. Next, you need to enable &#8220;Multimedia&#8221; and &#8220;Play in the background&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>While YouTube doesn&#8217;t allow background video playback for their browser, Brave does. By enabling the &#8220;Video in the background&#8221; tumbler, you can listen to YouTube videos while switching apps. The sound will continue playing even when you close the browser. Using this feature is easy to do, but you have to ensure that you&#8217;ve installed the app first. You can also enable it for other websites.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Picture-in-Picture_mode\"><\/span>Picture-in-Picture mode<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>YouTube is finally introducing the new picture-in-picture mode on the iPhone. This new feature allows you to watch videos in the background while using other apps. All you have to do is tap the new button in the YouTube video player to move it to a smaller window that floats over the Home Screen. This feature has been tested and extended several times already, and it appears that YouTube is just about ready to launch it officially.<\/p>\n<p>Before attempting to use picture-in-picture mode on YouTube, you must switch to the desktop version of the site. This can be found in the Options button on the top-right of the screen. Then, click on Desktop Site in the menu. Depending on your device, you may need to try several times before getting it to work. The screenshot below demonstrates how to use picture-in-picture mode on YouTube.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Safari\"><\/span>Safari<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>If you want to watch a YouTube video in the background on your Mac, you can do it without leaving the current app. The first step to play YouTube in the background on Safari is to launch the YouTube desktop site. In order to do so, select &#8220;desktop view&#8221; from the menu bar. After playing the video, tap the aA symbol in the address bar and select &#8220;Request desktop site.&#8221; On Chrome, press the three vertical dots icon and select &#8220;Request desktop site.&#8221; Once you&#8217;ve made the change, your video will stop playing when you return to the home screen. You can resume playback with a simple tap in the Control Center.<\/p>\n<p>This works only with YouTube videos that are marked as &#8220;Music&#8221; and &#8220;Audio.&#8221; However, music videos from third-party sources should still play in the background. This method requires you to download both applications. After you&#8217;ve downloaded the apps, you can install the YouTube PIP shortcut. If you don&#8217;t have this application installed on your Mac, you can download it by visiting iTunes. Make sure to enable the &#8220;Allow Untrusted Shortcuts&#8221; toggle.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"YouTube_Premium\"><\/span>YouTube Premium<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>If you&#8217;re having problems with your YouTube Premium video playing in the background, you&#8217;re not alone. It happens to everyone at some point. And it can be annoying! For example, what if you&#8217;re trying to view a Reddit link in YouTube, but you accidentally hit the back button? Well, it&#8217;s time to take action. Here are some steps to help you fix this issue. Hopefully, one of these will work for you!<\/p>\n<p>First, you should sign in to YouTube Premium to enable the feature. Once you&#8217;ve done that, you&#8217;ll be able to view videos in the background while using other applications. You will need to sign in and out of your YouTube Premium membership. To verify that your subscription is active, simply open your profile and click on the &#8220;Payd memberships&#8221; button in the bottom-right corner.
