We will look at each of them in turn, but the majority of the ownership is in the hands of the company&#8217;s founders. However, there are some theories.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Maxcy_Brodbeck\"><\/span>Maxcy Brodbeck<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Formerly the head of business development at YouTube, Maxcy brokered its first licensing deals with TV studios and record labels. Currently, he works for Google. Brodbeck joined YouTube in 2005 as the site&#8217;s first user interface designer. He left the company in August 2009, but has since become its financial backer. Brodbeck is a former Google employee who has a background in finance, entrepreneurship, and Internet business.<\/p>\n<p>YouTube was founded in 2005. It launched as a closed beta in May 2005, attracting 30,000 guests per day. By the time it formally launched on December 15, 2005, the site served multiple million videos daily. By January 2006, YouTube was serving more than 25 million perspectives per day. In mid-2006, YouTube was transferring over 20,000 new recordings on a daily basis. In 2007, YouTube had reached more than one billion views per day.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Alyson_Shontell_Lombardi\"><\/span>Alyson Shontell Lombardi<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>YouTube CEO Susan Wojcicki and Fortune Magazine journalist Alyson Shontell Lombard sat down for an exclusive interview at Davos 2022. They discuss the balance between free speech and the creator economy bubble. Wojcicki also discusses Microsoft&#8217;s reaction to these shifts and what it means to be a leader in this time of transition. The interview is moderated by Klaus Schwab.<\/p>\n<p>Alyson Shontell Lombard was a Davos resident and wanted to expand her business. She wanted to sell her clothing line under the name &#8220;Syracutie&#8221; at the SU campus and other stores around town. Van Ryn helped her work through the legal processes and negotiated with SU. The NCAA license was essential for her success. The deal was a win-win for both parties.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Steve_Chen\"><\/span>Steve Chen<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>YouTube co-founder Steve Chen is originally from Taiwan. His family emigrated to the United States when he was 8 years old. In 1999, he dropped out of college and joined PayPal, where he met his co-founders, Jawed Karim and Chad Hurley. He eventually joined Facebook, and was one of the first 20 employees of the social media company. After just a few months, Chen quit his job to start YouTube.<\/p>\n<p>The company&#8217;s success is a testament to the hard work of its founders. The company started out in a garage with three friends from PayPal. Later, it moved into real offices. Steve Chen was appointed Chief Technology Officer and received several million dollars in Google stock when YouTube was acquired by Google. He stayed at YouTube until 2009, and the company has since evolved into a streaming video service. In the past decade, Chen has expanded YouTube beyond video uploading and into a variety of other services.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Jawed_Karim\"><\/span>Jawed Karim<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Jawed Karim, co-founder of YouTube, was only 21 years old when he posted his first video. Titled Me at the zoo, it is just 18 seconds long and shows Jawed at the San Diego Zoo. Since then, his videos have attracted nearly 213 million views. In addition to YouTube, Jawed has invested in other tech companies, including Facebook and Twitter.<\/p>\n<p>Before creating YouTube, Jawed Karim worked at PayPal and Stanford University. He was the first employee of the company and later moved its headquarters to San Bruno, California. The site gained immense popularity after Jawed Karim uploaded his first video. The video, filmed at the San Diego Zoo, has more than 218 million views. While the company has since merged with other companies, he remains an active member of the company.<\/p>\n<p>Before founding YouTube, Jawed Karim was a full-time employee of PayPal before graduating. He continued his studies in 2004 at Stanford University and interned at Silicon Graphics, one of the top performing companies in Silicon Valley. While there, he worked on problems related to 3D graphics and subsequently founded YouTube.
