This movie will chart the evolution of the site from a small project to a business that moves billions of dollars. The New Republic&#8217;s David Hajdu will delve into the genesis and evolution of YouTube. Hajdu writes that video technology was first used in the 1950s for the &#8220;Jonathan Winters Show,&#8221; a sketch comedy show starring the unscripted comic imagination of the star. In one routine, a stagehand would toss an object to Jonathan Winters, which prompted him to react and laugh.<\/p>\n<p>In the Arab Spring, YouTube plays an important role in spreading messages of democracy and freedom. Many protest videos go viral, and YouTube becomes a place to watch presidential elections. The site hosts content from eight news outlets, including YouTube-bred commentator Philip DeFranco. In turn, the popularity of videos uploaded to YouTube grows, and more users log in to watch videos. As YouTube becomes a major global force, it takes on a new role in the news industry.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Founders\"><\/span>Founders<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Founded in 2005, YouTube has now become the most popular video sharing website on the Internet. The video-sharing service was created by three former employees of PayPal: Steve Chen, a Taiwanese-American Internet entrepreneur, Chad Hurley, an American businessman and webmaster, and Jawed Karim, a software engineer who studied at Stanford University and the University of Illinois. While they were not the first to use YouTube, they had a similar vision of creating a simple platform for sharing videos with others.<\/p>\n<p>At the time of YouTube&#8217;s inception, it had a team of 10 employees, including two cofounders: Hurley and Chen. All of these employees were PayPal employees, which meant that they had worked together for a long time. Most of these employees have since left the company, but some remain at Google. Founders Yu and Chen stayed at YouTube until 2011, when Chen left to become an angel investor and Hurley co-founded a digital sports startup.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Growth\"><\/span>Growth<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Despite having no profits, YouTube continues to grow, as it entered the territory of Apple and Netflix. After beginning with Sundance movies, YouTube is now offering movies from major studios such as Warner Brothers and Sony. In addition, creators of videos on YouTube can earn money by monetizing them. For example, in September of 2005, a Nike ad posted on the website received one million views. In November, Sequoia Capital invested $3.5 million in YouTube.<\/p>\n<p>The YouTube growth has been driven by the millions of creators who upload videos to their channels. According to YouTube stats, YouTube creators have more influence than traditional celebrities, with 70 percent of teens valuing the opinions of YouTubers over those of traditional celebrities. Furthermore, the majority of YouTube users buy products or services they have learned about on the site. That&#8217;s why YouTubers are so important. But what makes these creators so valuable to companies?<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Future\"><\/span>Future<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>What is the future of YouTube? According to analysts, it will soon become a traditional media company, offering content creators a virtual world where they can interact with viewers and engage in other activities. YouTube will create its own virtual world called YouTube VR, which will be similar to Second Life for YouTubers. YouTubers can interact with other creators in this virtual world, and the viewers will become active participants in their shows. In this future, YouTube will be able to sell advertising based on how much traffic each of their videos is generating.<\/p>\n<p>The video sharing platform has eight billion views on videos, according to recent data. One of the most popular channels on YouTube is Pinkfong! Kids&#8217; Songs &amp; Stories, with 44.6 million subscribers. YouTube predicts that monthly views will double to two billion by 2020. However, this figure does not take into account the number of visitors logged in every month to the site. In addition, YouTube is a good place to make money if you have something to share &#8211; YouTube has a great community of regular viewers.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Impact\"><\/span>Impact<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>YouTube has been around for a decade now, but it&#8217;s only recently begun to make a bigger impact. In fact, the website is now used by over 2 billion people each month, and it&#8217;s now one of the most influential platforms for marketing and advertising. Even though it&#8217;s still a relatively new company, thousands of companies dedicate a significant portion of their budget to YouTube posting. YouTube&#8217;s success can&#8217;t be overstated, and it is certainly a worthy cause to celebrate.<\/p>\n<p>In 2004, when YouTube was founded, many were still using dial-up internet connections. At the same time, Silicon Valley was thriving. There were countless startup ideas in the area, and Chad Hurley, an employee of PayPal, had an idea for a service that would let people share videos. In just a few years, YouTube had become the third-most-visited site on the Internet.
