Read on to learn more about the founders of YouTube.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Jawed_Karim\"><\/span>Jawed Karim<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>The creator of YouTube has given different accounts of how YouTube was created. Some details are different from the other, but they both agree on the most important aspects of the concept. In his 2004 TED talk, Jawed Karim explains how YouTube came to be and how its popularity has grown. He also says the idea for YouTube is similar to that of the game show Hot or Not. In fact, the two men met each other at PayPal, where Hurley and Chen had been working together.<\/p>\n<p>Jawed Karim was born in Merseburg, East Germany, and went on to study computer science at the University of Munich. There, he met his future business partners, Steve Chen and Chad Hurley. The two teamed up to create YouTube and later sold it to Google parent company Alphabet. Since then, Jawed Karim has invested in many other Internet startups and has nurtured the creative dynamism in Silicon Valley.<\/p>\n<p>The YouTube founder and CEO is a man who has been known for being bold and a visionary. After earning a master&#8217;s degree in computer science from Stanford University, he started working for Google. He became an advisor for YouTube and gave a lecture on the history of the video platform at the University of Illinois. He was also the youngest commencement speaker in the history of the school and also invested in Airbnb, Inc., an online marketplace and hospitality service.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Steven_Chen\"><\/span>Steven Chen<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Internet entrepreneur Steven Chen is a Taiwanese-American who was one of the founders of YouTube. He served as its chief technology officer, and co-founded AVOS Systems, Inc., and the video-sharing app MixBit. In 2014, he joined Google Ventures. The creator of YouTube is now one of the most well-known Internet personalities. His achievements include launching the world&#8217;s largest video-sharing website and becoming the first person to earn a billion dollars through YouTube.<\/p>\n<p>YouTube&#8217;s founder, Steven Chen, had a vision that made video sharing simple and free. He and Hurley had been trying to send video clips through email, but could not find an appropriate platform to share them. When Chen and Hurley discussed the problem, Youtube was born. Soon, Youtube was hosting over 100 million videos and attracting the attention of Yahoo and Google. Chen arranged meetings at Denny&#8217;s with both companies to discuss potential partnerships. YouTube was purchased by Google for $1.65 billion in 2006.<\/p>\n<p>In 2005, Chen was at a dinner party when he realized that there was no simple way to share videos. While digital photos were easier to share than videos, Chen realized that a similar software package could be built for video sharing. Chen eventually financed the project with $3.5 million in venture capital financing. Chen launched YouTube in December 2005 with a movie called &#8220;Me at the zoo&#8221; and was hailed as the founder of YouTube. Chen continues to work in tech, and is a frequent speaker at tech conferences.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Chad_Hurley\"><\/span>Chad Hurley<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>YouTube was co-founded by Chad Hurley, a former PayPal employee and webmaster. Hurley was responsible for the logo and the tagging of uploaded content. He co-founded the company in 2005 and served as its CEO until October 29, 2010. Hurley then left to focus on other business ventures, including a cloud video conferencing service provider called BlueJeans. Today, YouTube serves hundreds of millions of videos a day.<\/p>\n<p>The YouTube founder was born in a small town in Pennsylvania and spent his early childhood in the arts. He developed an interest in technology in high school, and was a standout cross-country runner. He later became an active member of the Technology Student Association, and later went on to receive a Bachelor of Arts in Fine Arts from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. Chad later stayed in the business world by co-founding MixBit, an app that allows you to edit videos with your smartphone. The company was sold to BlueJeans in 2018.<\/p>\n<p>Today, YouTube has become a major player in the entertainment world, with users uploading millions of videos each day. The YouTube founder is also part owner of the Golden State Warriors, MLS&#8217; Los Angeles Football Club, and Leeds United. He also speaks at conferences and corporate events, including the Ontario Centre of Excellence and Ithaca College.
