Mark became a billionaire at the age of 23, making him one of the youngest billionaires of all time.<\/p>\n<p>As the founder of Facebook, Mark Zuckerberg was a high school dropout from Harvard University. He became an entrepreneur after working for a technology company. Facebook had a few employees at the time, and they were all young and uninterested in their studies. Mark Zuckerberg was able to combine his interests in the arts and computer science, and began developing his own computer programs at age 12.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Harvard_University_students\"><\/span>Harvard University students<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>In 2004, two Harvard University students, Mark Zuckerberg and Eduardo Saverin, created Facebook, a social networking site. By year&#8217;s end, Facebook had surpassed one million active users. It&#8217;s not hard to see why the site was so popular.<\/p>\n<p>At first, Facebook was restricted to Harvard University students, but soon became available to other Ivy League schools and colleges. In September 2006, Facebook opened to the general public. Now, more than 1 billion people use Facebook. In fact, Facebook is used by one out of every seven people on the planet. The social networking site was created by Mark Zuckerberg, Eduardo Saverin, Dustin Moskovitz, Andrew McCollum, and Chris Hughes.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"The_Winklevoss_twins\"><\/span>The Winklevoss twins<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>The world has heard a lot about the Facebook founder, but how did the twins get involved? They were first-hand witnesses to the creation of the social network, and had access to thousands of pages of court documents. Their lawsuit, which was successful, made the Winklevoss twins famous. What is their relationship with Mark Zuckerberg? And what was their relationship like before Facebook?<\/p>\n<p>The Winklevoss twins met Mark Zuckerberg when Tyler was an undergraduate at Harvard. He wanted to start a dating website. Tyler hired the famous entrepreneur Mark Zuckerberg to help him code the site. The two soon teamed up to create the world&#8217;s most popular social network, which inspired the Oscar-winning movie, &#8220;Facebook.&#8221; Now, Tyler and Cameron are multi-millionaires.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"The_Like_button\"><\/span>The &#8220;Like&#8221; button<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>The &#8220;Like&#8221; button was originally named the &#8220;Awesome&#8221; button, but the team changed the name to reflect a more universal appeal. Facebook&#8217;s engineers studied advertising from the 1990s and found that the public tended to be likable towards certain types of advertisements. Therefore, the team hypothesized that a viewer who liked an ad would be more likely to remember it and use it again.<\/p>\n<p>During the early stages of the company&#8217;s development, Facebook did not have a &#8220;like&#8221; button. The idea for a button was initially developed as a way for people to endorse content in the newsfeed. But Mark Zuckerberg changed the word to &#8220;like&#8221; because he felt that the word &#8220;awesome&#8221; was too weak for the purpose. Gates, a former executive at Microsoft, has even called the founder of Facebook a &#8220;great friend.&#8221; In an interview with Vox, Mark Zuckerberg said that Gates was an inspiration and has been an inspiration to him.<\/p>\n<p>In 1999, a group of Harvard students approached Zuckerberg and asked him to help them build a website based on their network of classmates. These students wanted to create a dating service for the elite of Harvard. Zuckerberg agreed to help them with the project, but soon dropped out of college and began work on his own social networking site.
