According to Downdetector, there was a sharp spike in reports of Facebook and Instagram outages. It is unclear what is causing these outages or how users can fix the issues.<\/p>\n<p>On Monday, Facebook and Instagram went down for about six hours, disrupting millions of users across the globe. WhatsApp and Facebook are also affected, with error messages such as &#8220;5xx Server Error&#8221; popping up. The outages started at about 11:40 ET\/8:40 PT. It is not clear if the outages will be short-lived or prolonged.
