Facebook, for example, had been using AWS Route 53 to route traffic. This changed the way Facebook&#8217;s DNS was routed, which led to an exponential effect. Facebook and Instagram were unable to restore their routes to their users for over seven hours. Because Facebook uses an internal DNS service, the changes had a large impact on the service&#8217;s availability.<\/p>\n<p>On Friday, the social networking website had a major outage, affecting users around the world. Users were reporting disruptions on WhatsApp, Facebook and Instagram. Facebook employees were reportedly struggling to physically access the computer servers that update records on all of the DNS servers around the world. As a result, the outage could affect millions of users. Try following less than seven hundred accounts to see if you can connect to Instagram again. If you cannot do this, unfollow the accounts you&#8217;re following. Try logging in using a different internet connection, a WiFi network, or even a different device.
