While these VR headsets can cost $300 or more, they allow users to flit between various virtual worlds created by different companies.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Metaverse_is_a_social_media_platform\"><\/span>Metaverse is a social media platform<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>In December, Facebook is planning to begin trading as Meta Platforms, which is a subset of the social network. Facebook has invested heavily in the development of augmented and virtual reality. The company has built out a VR environment called Horizon, which users can access with Quest headsets. In addition, Nvidia has developed a platform called the Omniverse, which connects 3D worlds. This platform will be used for simulations of the real world.<\/p>\n<p>While Facebook&#8217;s decision to refocus on its social networking platform has led some to question the company&#8217;s commitment to community messaging and privacy, it is a positive move that could secure the future of the company among younger users and hedge against recent controversy. Still, there are many concerns about the future of Metaverse. It remains to be seen how this platform will perform in the coming months. There is a risk that the platform could not be as successful as its competitors in the long run.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Its_a_virtual_reality_headset\"><\/span>It&#8217;s a virtual reality headset<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Oculus&#8217; Quest lineup has been a holiday bestseller the past two years, but the company is now taking things a step further. The company has rebranded its VR headset, the Quest, to call it the Meta. You can experience the Metaverse by wearing the headset and taking part in group activities. You can also invite friends to join you and watch videos together. Eventually, Horizon Home will become the hub for your virtual life and include Skyline Homes, where you can pursue your interests with others, similar to Roblox.<\/p>\n<p>Zuckerberg also showed off a number of headsets, including the Butterscotch, which has high-fidelity vision near 20\/20. Another headset, called the Starburst, has an eye-watering 20,000 nits of brightness and a more basic headset called the Holocake, which has experimental features. As of late 2021, Meta was hiring for the position of a metaverse builder, but due to the downturn, hiring has halted.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Its_a_virtual_representation_of_where_you_want_to_go\"><\/span>It&#8217;s a virtual representation of where you want to go<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>The future of social networking could be virtual. Facebook has just paid $2 billion to acquire virtual reality pioneer Oculus VR. While it&#8217;s unclear how the company plans to integrate virtual reality into its site, its CTO Mike Schroepfer has shown off the concept. In one demo, Schroepfer showed off a colleague&#8217;s virtual representation on Facebook. The future of Facebook may very well include virtual reality.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"It_could_be_a_new_way_to_interact_with_the_internet\"><\/span>It could be a new way to interact with the internet<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>The Facebook CEO and co-founder described the metaverse as an immersive virtual world that lets people spend time together. He described it as a &#8220;vision of the future&#8221; and said he dreamed of creating it before creating Facebook. On the company&#8217;s second-quarter earnings call, Zuckerberg and his executives mentioned it more than a dozen times. The company plans to make the Oculus Quest 2 headset available for just $299, a much lower price than the HTC Vive Cosmos and HP Reverb G2 VR headsets.<\/p>\n<p>The concept of a &#8220;metaverse&#8221; isn&#8217;t new, but the concept is interesting. It could be a way to create digital personas, show off status updates, and potentially increase the amount of time people spend on the internet. The new version of Facebook could allow users to engage with brands and services that previously seemed out of reach to them. The company has been betting that this new concept will work and has hired tens of thousands of people to build it. And it has spent billions of dollars to back the project. Zuckerberg has total control over the project.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"It_could_be_a_new_way_to_earn_money\"><\/span>It could be a new way to earn money<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>If you&#8217;re looking for new ways to make money online, Metaverse Facebook might be the perfect choice for you. This virtual community has everything you&#8217;d expect from a social network, from digital stores and restaurants to clubs and movie theaters. It even has a real stock market for you to take risks and earn money. However, the benefits are not limited to this &#8211; there are plenty of other ways to earn money on Metaverse, as well.<\/p>\n<p>The first is through selling VR headsets, and then focusing on advertising and commerce in the metaverse. Facebook already has its own division, Oculus, to develop and sell virtual reality headsets. The headsets are limited in what they can do, but Zuckerberg is confident that with the right hardware, the metaverse could be a lucrative new way to make money.
