ByteDance has acquired several game development studios this year, including Shanghai-based Moonton Technology.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"PoliQ_acquisition\"><\/span>PoliQ acquisition<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Pico, which recently acquired PoliQ for $772 million, is a Chinese virtual reality headset developer. The acquisition of PoliQ marks the first major investment by a Chinese company in a metaverse project. It also includes Ma Jiesi, the former head of Xiaomi&#8217;s VR division who collaborated with Oculus and worked on the development of the Oculus Go.
