The former TikTok executive, Shou Zi Chew, recently signed an executive order overturning President Donald Trump&#8217;s proposed bans on the video-sharing platform.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Bytedance\"><\/span>Bytedance<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>ByteDance recently appointed Shou Zi Chew as Chief Financial Officer, the first person from outside China to receive both a Master of Business Administration from Harvard Business School and a Bachelor of Science in Economics from the University of Cambridge. He is the first person from outside China to be appointed as CEO of a dual-class IPO in Hong Kong, and his appointment sparked rumors that Bytedance might be taking the company public.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Shi_Ye_Bu_Qu_Dong_Business_Unit_BU\"><\/span>Shi Ye Bu Qu Dong Business Unit (BU)<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>ByteDance&#8217;s division of the company into six separate business units is known as a BU model. This type of organization structure allows each business unit greater autonomy while clearly defining the boundaries between each BU. It also gives the CEO of ByteDance China greater authority. The division is a natural extension of the company&#8217;s restructuring efforts, which began in November of last year.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Shou_Zi_Chew_is_TikToks_CEO_and_CFO\"><\/span>Shou Zi Chew is TikTok&#8217;s CEO and CFO<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Known to many as the man behind the craze for TikTok, Shou Zi Chew is the CEO and CFO of ByteDance. While it once seemed that TikTok was only for kids, it quickly grew into an app that appealed to users of all ages. While Shou has been around for a while, his career path hasn&#8217;t been entirely smooth. Here is a look at some of the things that made him successful.<\/p>\n<p>Chew holds an MBA from Harvard and an economics degree from the University of London. He has spent a summer working for Facebook, as it was a start-up. While Chew doesn&#8217;t have a specific degree in finance, he has experience working with the challenges of regulatory compliance and security in the United States, as the company was once tried to be banned under the former administration of President Donald Trump.<\/p>\n<p>Although the name Shou Zi Chew may ring a bell for some, it&#8217;s unclear how much Shou Zi is expected to grow the company. The Singaporean earned a bachelor&#8217;s degree in economics before completing an MBA at Harvard Business School.
