Here&#8217;s a look at the reasons why TikTok is illegal in India, Pakistan, Russia, and Afghanistan. In each case, the ban is based on the content of the videos, and each country has a different law regarding the content of these videos. These countries can be a problem for those who want to share their videos with the world, but it&#8217;s a good thing that many countries are looking into the matter.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"India\"><\/span>India<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>In recent months, a ban on Chinese video-sharing app TikTok has swept the globe. The ban, which took effect on July 28, has caused the app to lose millions of users in India. The ban is one of several that have prompted Chinese companies to create their own versions of the app. These Chinese versions have 1.2 billion monthly active users, which are competing with U.S. apps in the Indian market.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Pakistan\"><\/span>Pakistan<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>It is not clear how many times the video sharing app TikTok was banned in Pakistan. The first ban was in October 2020, but it was later lifted after the company provided assurances to the authorities. The Peshawar High Court banned the app in March but removed it in April after it promised to block obscenity accounts. In June, the Sindh High Court banned the app again, but lifted it three days later after the company made a new commitment.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Russia\"><\/span>Russia<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>It is unfortunate that the video sharing app TikTok has been banned in Russia, but the world is watching. The Russian government is keeping its citizens in check with censorship, so the ban is not surprising. Many Russians are critics of the Kremlin and use international social networks to bypass state-controlled media. They also use TikTok to post fake footage of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Afghanistan\"><\/span>Afghanistan<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Despite the Taliban&#8217;s recent announcement that they will ban all entertainment content on television, it seems that tiktok is still allowed on the Internet. However, the ban comes at the worst possible time. It has already been found that 94 percent of Afghans rate their lives in poor condition. With no alternative crops in place, Afghan farmers are likely to lose income. And it seems the ban is only the beginning.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Bangladesh\"><\/span>Bangladesh<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>In November, the Bangladeshi government blocked the Internet access to the TikTok application. This move came after authorities imposed new restrictions in the country in response to pornography and gambling content. Bangladesh&#8217;s Posts and Communications Officer, Mustafa Jabbar, said he wanted a &#8220;secure and safe internet&#8221; for Bangladeshis. This is why the government has requested that TikTok remove 10 videos posted in Bangladesh.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"United_States\"><\/span>United States<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>The ban on TikTok has a number of implications. The app has been criticized for harvesting sensitive data from its users, as well as being owned by an entity that is beholden to the CCP. The app is banned in China, and its removal from Apple and Google Play is being considered by some government entities, although it has not yet been banned in the United States. According to an article in The Washington Post, a majority of American youths favor its removal.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"UK\"><\/span>UK<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>In the UK, a government ban on the video-sharing app TikTok is an unlikely outcome. The app has a huge user base, generating 190.6 million downloads in 2019, according to data from comScore. It&#8217;s controversial because it has been accused of spying and compromising the national security of China, but that doesn&#8217;t mean it&#8217;s banned, merely restricted.
