The figures, which reflect Android users, show that the short-form video app has surpassed YouTube in watch time per user. Although YouTube has more users and more total video views, TikTok has overtaken the video-sharing giant in one critical metric: U.S. users spend more time on the app, and the app has nearly doubled its users&#8217; average watch time.<\/p>\n<p>In the first quarter of 2020, the social-media platform achieved its highest downloads ever. The company, owned by China&#8217;s ByteDance, also reported that its monthly peak downloads occurred in March 2020. In addition, it reported that TikTok had overtaken YouTube in installs on app stores worldwide by March 2021. This content can be generated by peers or captured by predatory adults.<\/p>\n<p>Although there are no regulations on what kinds of videos are showcased on TikTok, content related to drug abuse and other unhealthy behaviors is not allowed. Users often disguise content with hashtags, making it difficult to distinguish between legitimate and illegal content. Drug abuse content spreads like wildfire on TikTok, and parents need to be aware of what their children are watching. Because of the sensitivity of this issue, the social media giant is doing its part to prevent teens from becoming victims of drug abuse.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"It_favors_shorter_videos\"><\/span>It favors shorter videos<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Although you can upload longer videos to TikTok, it&#8217;s important to keep your clips under 30 seconds, as the algorithm is likely to favor those that are shorter. Longer videos are less likely to be seen and end up on FYP, or favorite videos. Keeping your clips under 30 seconds also increases their chances of being seen. But it&#8217;s not the only factor determining your video&#8217;s success.<\/p>\n<p>To improve your TikTok video&#8217;s discoverability, try adding trending sound to it. This is important, as it will trick the TikTok algorithm into displaying your content. Another way to increase your video&#8217;s discovery is to add relevant keywords. Popular songs have high viewership rates, so using popular tunes will increase your video&#8217;s visibility. If you don&#8217;t have any existing videos, try creating some new ones.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"It_has_no_ads\"><\/span>It has no ads<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>When you open the TikTok app, you&#8217;ll be greeted with the &#8220;For You&#8221; page. Like Instagram ads, they&#8217;re displayed on the fourth video on a user&#8217;s discovery page. This feature lets advertisers target specific audiences with targeted ads.
