He will share his own story, as well as those of other creators and leaders.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"TikTok_creators_shouted_their_names_at_the_convention\"><\/span>TikTok creators shouted their names at the convention<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Fans shouted the names of TikTok creators at the TikTokcon in New York last weekend, as they signed notebooks and performed backflips on the dance floor. Colin Marais and Vincent Marcus, who both have more than one million followers on the app, also were accosted by a throng of TikTok fans upon leaving the convention.<\/p>\n<p>The convention&#8217;s buzz was evident among the attendees, as the platform&#8217;s general manager, Vanessa Pappas, discussed the app&#8217;s future at a fireside chat with industry executives. Many of the big-name TikTok creators held meet-and-greets, and the throngs of teenage fans swarmed the TikTok stars outside the convention center. They shouted their names and shot dance videos with the stars of TikTok.<\/p>\n<p>Although the social media platforms&#8217; algorithms are opaque, it is still possible to make assumptions. For instance, the algorithm behind TikTok over-indexes creators&#8217; races, and the parent company, ByteDance, does not hire enough Black employees. But before this convention, it seemed as though it was a slightly out-of-control summer camp, with people rushing around, chatting and spouting policy positions like a hotcake. In addition to being a great opportunity to network with fellow TikTok users, attendees had the chance to meet the popular TikTok stars, who were surrounded by a sea of teenage girls. Famous creators such as Joe Waud, who has more than one million followers, and Payton Moormeier, who has 3.3 million followers, attended the convention. They spoke to fans and signed notebooks and posed for photos and videos, recorded skits for their personal accounts, and tied a girl&#8217;s shoe.<\/p>\n<p>TikTok founder and general manager Vanessa Pappas spoke at VidCon along with other industry executives. Her fireside chat was so well received that the entire event was sold out. Many of the big TikTok creators also held meet-and-greets, and thousands of teenagers swarmed the stage outside the convention center to shout their names and shoot dance videos.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to marketers, small business owners and social media entrepreneurs also benefit from the TikTok platform.
