Then, find the message that you&#8217;d like to delete. To do this, open the conversation and long-tap on the message. Facebook is working on more unsend features, including a feature that allows you to preemptively set expiration dates for your messages. In the meantime, you can always delete messages that you no longer want.<\/p>\n<p>The time limit is meant to give users more control over their messages and prevent users from abusing the feature. Many users tend to delete messages within minutes of sending them. However, Facebook has added a time limit of 10 minutes to prevent users from abusing the feature. Moreover, Facebook does not specify the age limit, but users can still unsend messages if they wish to. Once you&#8217;ve selected the person or group you want to delete the message from, click on &#8220;More&#8221; and then select &#8220;Delete.&#8221; After this, click on the &#8216;x&#8217; to confirm. The message will now be permanently deleted on both sides of the conversation. After 10 minutes, a message will appear stating that you deleted it.<\/p>\n<p>Delete Facebook Messenger messages from both sides before they are read by both parties by selecting &#8216;Unsend for Everyone&#8217;. When you click this option, you&#8217;ll see a prompt asking you to confirm that you want to delete the message. After you click &#8220;Unsend for Everyone,&#8221; the message will be deleted from both sides. But be aware that the recipient will still be able to view it in their chat history. To find out how to unsend an older message, follow the steps below.<\/p>\n<p>To un-send an old message, hold the message that you want to remove. When you click the &#8220;Unsend&#8221; button, the message will retract, leaving a copy of the message in the recipient&#8217;s inbox. However, it is still visible to other members of the chat. If you don&#8217;t want anyone else to see it, you can also report it.
