Tweets containing negative feedback and praise from taxpayers on the agency&#8217;s website may not get much attention from the agency. Taxpayers should instead check the status of their payments on the IRS website and opt out for the next two payments if they don&#8217;t want to receive them. Despite this, Twitter is not the best way to get updates from the IRS.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"If_so_how_do_you_follow_it\"><\/span>If so, how do you follow it?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>You may have heard about the IRS&#8217;s new Twitter account this week. The agency is hoping that the new pages will help taxpayers and tax professionals. But do you know how to follow the IRS on Twitter? Here are some basic steps to follow its account. First of all, visit their official Twitter page. Then, follow their relevant hashtags. This way, you will get notified whenever they post something new on their account.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Unemployment_Tax_refunds_are_ongoing_through_the_summer\"><\/span>Unemployment Tax refunds are ongoing through the summer<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>The IRS is continuing to send out Unemployment Tax refunds to eligible taxpayers. This tax break, for those with an adjusted gross income of less than $150,000, is ongoing through the summer, with electronic payments arriving on July 14 and paper checks arriving two days later. While this process is generally quick, it could take a little longer for more complex returns. To ensure that you receive your refund on time, you should make sure that you have checked your online tax transcript and received an updated date.<\/p>\n<p>First round of Unemployment Tax refunds went out last week. This program is ongoing throughout the summer, and there are at least 13 million people who are eligible to receive one. If you are among those people, the refund will include federal taxes you paid in 2020, but not state taxes. The American Rescue Plan Act, passed in March, exempts up to $10,200 of unemployment compensation from taxable income. In addition, many people who were affected had already filed their taxes.<\/p>\n<p>The American Rescue Plan, signed by President Joe Biden, exempted up to $10,200 of unemployment benefits for individuals and $20,400 for married couples filing jointly. Normally, unemployment benefits are considered taxable income and must be reported. Since then, almost nine million people have received an Unemployment Tax refund, amounting to $10 billion.
