Let’s take a closer look at the limitations of this service. YouTube TV’s DVR is available as part of its subscription. You can share the service with up to five family members. However, if one subscriber wants to record an episode for the whole family, each person must purchase a separate subscription. This is especially useful if the family lives in separate places.

Limitations of YouTube TV’s cloud-based DVR

A potential downside of YouTube TV’s cloud-based DVR is that you aren’t allowed to fast-forward through ads in recorded shows. YouTube says the issue is a “tangle of contracts with major media companies.” However, VOD is an exception, as it does not affect the ad-skipping limitation. As of October 2018, YouTube TV has also removed a restriction on fast-forwarding commercials while watching recorded shows. However, this feature is not available in all markets, which means subscribers in those markets will have to watch some commercials for some popular shows.

Another limitation of YouTube TV’s cloud-based DVR is that you can’t record individual episodes of a show. The recording time will be automatically extended by 30 minutes after the scheduled end time. However, you can add recordings to your library and watch them anytime you want. In addition to that, you can pause, rewind, and jump to specific segments of recordings. In addition, you can view recordings of TV shows and movies whenever you want, which is something that no other live TV service offers.

In terms of recording and playback, YouTube TV has a decent cloud-based DVR for the price. It records up to nine months worth of television and offers over 85 channels to watch at your leisure. It’s also free, and unlike some other streaming services, YouTube TV is owned by Google, so it’s likely to get better. It’s still a work in progress, but it’s an exciting product that could one day replace cable services.

The service also offers a huge selection of channels, including local channels. The only major media company missing from the lineup is A&E Networks, which owns Vice and FYI Crime + Investigation, Lifetime and History. While YouTube TV offers an adequate selection of sports channels, it excludes most regional sports networks. The company’s content selection also varies considerably depending on where you live. You can’t record live sports events if you’re outside of these areas.

Limitations of YouTube TV’s recording experience

If you enjoy recording your favorite TV shows and movies, you’ll be happy to know that YouTube TV has a built-in recording feature. It allows you to record shows up to nine months in advance. However, you shouldn’t expect to keep all of your recordings. The service automatically deletes partial recordings after nine months. Alternatively, you can record movies, sports events, and other one-off events.

Despite offering a better recording experience than most other cloud DVRs, YouTube TV does have some limitations. One of them is that you can’t record single episodes of your favorite shows. While you can record entire series, you won’t be able to record individual episodes. But if you want to watch a single episode, you can do that too. And if you want to record a single game, you can record a single match.

Another limitation of YouTube TV’s recording experience is the amount of space available on hard disk. The DVR storage limit imposes a hard disk space limit of 20 Exabytes. However, subscribers to YouTube TV can record as many episodes as they want as long as they have access to the account. Moreover, they can share their subscription with five family members and can record their shows separately. If you have multiple DVRs, this is a huge advantage.

Besides its storage limit, YouTube TV also lacks any DVR storage limit. You can record as many shows and movies as you want. Moreover, you can download recordings for offline viewing. In comparison, no other live TV service offers offline viewing. In addition to that, you can pause, rewind, and jump to specific segments in the recording. In fact, you can even download your recorded recordings to your device.

The main disadvantage of YouTube TV’s recording experience is that you cannot delete the recordings manually. Moreover, they’re not indefinite; they expire nine months after their air dates. Therefore, if you have a large library of shows, you can easily watch them later. However, if you don’t want to spend a lot of time with YouTube TV, it’s better to find a service that provides unlimited storage.

How Does YouTube TV DVR Work?
