Musk bought 73.5 million shares of Twitter for $2.4 billion, putting him at a 9.2 percent stake in the company. Musk declined an offer to sit on the Twitter board, but his tweets sent the stock up 27 percent on Monday. The deal is subject to regulatory approvals and other closing conditions. Musk has secured $25.5 billion in debt financing, as well as an equity commitment of $21.0 billion. Twitter will file a Current Report on Form 8-K for the transaction.<\/p>\n<p>The acquisition of Twitter has been a controversial and highly anticipated deal for several years. He is interested in creating a &#8220;decentralized&#8221; version of Twitter, which would put power back in the hands of the users. Twitter&#8217;s new leadership team will also face competition from Facebook&#8217;s parent company, Meta. In addition to hiring Agrawal, Twitter is funding a project to create an open protocol, which developers can use to create their own customized versions of Twitter.<\/p>\n<p>In the 1980s, Jack Dorsey dropped out of New York State University to start his own company. Later, he founded a company that offered taxi dispatching software online. He was inspired by the success of his company, which he later sold to Google for $1 billion. He later returned to the company and is currently the owner of Twitter. While many people have praised the power of Twitter&#8217;s technology, the underlying philosophy isn&#8217;t always clear.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Kevin_Systrom\"><\/span>Kevin Systrom<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Kevin Systrom, the co-founder of Twitter, is the billionaire behind Instagram. He founded both sites in 2007 and remains a frequent Twitter user. Systrom left Facebook in September 2018, but he remains active on the social networking site. Although he left Facebook, Systrom has not made any public announcements about his new ventures. While at Stanford University, Systrom was a member of the elite Mayfield Fellows Program. During that time, he interned at Odea, the company that eventually gave rise to Twitter.<\/p>\n<p>Systrom also founded Instagram, another photo-sharing app, which became wildly popular. The social network gave birth to modern-day fashion influencers and entrepreneurs. In 2019, it was estimated that the Instagram influencer market was worth $8 billion. Although Systrom is no stranger to controversy, his business acumen and vision made him a popular figure in the social media space. Here are five facts about Systrom. Morgan Stanley and BlackRock each have a stake of about 7% in the company. State Street Corporation, a Boston-based financial services and bank holding company, owns about 3.6% of Twitter shares. Twitter has not disclosed how much each company owns, but the five largest are estimated to own nearly 39% of the company. Among those companies, Morgan Stanley owns the most Twitter shares, with more than 82.4 million.<\/p>\n<p>Musk is an investor in Tesla, SpaceX, and Twitter. This means that the company could benefit from his investment. If Musk becomes the next billionaire, the investment firm could benefit, too. If Musk does get a majority stake in Twitter, it will provide him with more leverage. The company&#8217;s stock price could rise over the next two years if Musk gets a good exit.
