Despite the numerous positive changes, these new features are not without their flaws.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Friends_Tab\"><\/span>Friends Tab<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>If you&#8217;re a new user on TikTok, you might not have noticed that the tabs on the app have changed. The &#8216;Friends&#8217; tab now displays content from your connections, and the &#8216;Discover&#8217; tab showcased trending content and suggested accounts. If you want to find more friends, however, you may click on the &#8216;Discover&#8217; tab. It also allows you to invite more users to join TikTok, and gives you the option to follow more than one person at once.<\/p>\n<p>Using the Friends Tab on TikTok is a great way to find people you know and make new friends. To find a user by name, you can use the search bar, or you can search by email address or contact number. When you find someone new, you can send them a message through TikTok or by messaging them. This will let you stay in touch with your friends and be able to follow them when they post something new.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Longer_video_limit\"><\/span>Longer video limit<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>After months of testing, TikTok has extended its video upload limit. Starting July 20, users can upload videos up to 10 minutes. Before, the maximum time was 60 seconds. Users can trim unwanted content using the cutting tool. The new limit will be applicable for both iOS and Android users. But before you start uploading longer videos, read on for more information. Here&#8217;s what you need to know. And don&#8217;t forget to subscribe to the TikTok newsletter for more updates.<\/p>\n<p>Although users were limited to 15-second videos at first, they were later able to upload 30-second videos and eventually three-minute videos. The extended video limits have increased the creative freedom of content creators. However, the 10-minute limit has divided opinion. While longer videos will limit video lengths, longer clips can be useful for storytelling and tutorials. However, this new video limit may not be enough for some users.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"LiDAR_technology\"><\/span>LiDAR technology<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>LiDAR technology is used in other applications, such as Snapchat. In fact, the camera app used a LiDAR scanner to create its Lens, which included virtual vegetation around cabinets. And now, TikTok is using LiDAR technology to create an effect similar to Snapchat&#8217;s, where glitter falls in place as the person in the video walks away. Whether it will use this technology on its own or incorporate it into third-party apps is not yet clear.<\/p>\n<p>In the meantime, the LiDAR filter on TikTok is a first step toward the future. The app has begun rolling out its filter to users in certain countries, but is still in beta phase. TikTok has already announced that more effects will use LiDAR in 2021, but the new feature is only available on iPhones and iPads with the new sensor. The company has been using LiDAR technology in other apps, like Snapchat, since it launched in 2015. Its upcoming AR Lens will allow users to see how products will look in their home.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"New_policy_to_protect_security_integrity_availability_and_reliability\"><\/span>New policy to protect &#8220;security, integrity, availability, and reliability&#8221;<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Following recent criticism from users and experts, social media platform TikTok has revised its community guidelines and expanded its policy to improve security. The changes are primarily focused on harmful acts and hateful ideologies, as well as content that may be offensive to people with eating disorders. TikTok will also soon implement a new system for identifying and limiting content by teenagers.<\/p>\n<p>TikTok has also stepped up its effort to address dangerous challenges, including suicide hoaxes and other egregious content. The platform has expanded its Safety Center to offer more information on these topics and has made new warnings available when users search for such content. These changes follow advice from researchers and safety experts. They will take effect immediately. The company has also prohibited the use of the app for criminal purposes and unauthorised access.
