TikTok’s Global Community Guidelines are overarching, and will be used as the basis for moderation policies. However, country-specific teams will implement local laws and regulations. Here’s a quick look at some of the key restrictions:

Sexually explicit content

While TikTok encourages users to create authentic and genuine content, it also prohibits certain actions and practices. The company can delete or ban accounts for serious violations, including violent behavior and promoting illegal organizations. Users are also prohibited from posting material that promotes or encourages violence, nudity, or naughty behavior. TikTok also limits the distribution of content and prohibits users from using certain techniques, including duets, “stitching” videos, or other tools to spread content.

As far as the content itself goes, TikTok has a very clear policy regarding the use of cuss words and sexual language. Video creators often use code words to avoid cussing on the site, such as “fork” or the “poo” emoji. Users also have the option to use their own names, but that is not recommended. Moreover, videos containing cuss words can be removed from TikTok without warning, even if it is not explicitly banned.

Harassment of minors

While the term “harassment” has a lot of negative connotations, the term is not limited to one category. Harassment of minors includes content that promotes hateful ideologies, dehumanizes people, or is in any way offensive. TikTok has added several more categories to this list, including “immigration status,” “caste,” and “serious disease.”

The company has also announced new safety measures for users under the age of 16. By default, users under the age of 16 will have their accounts set to private and can only share their content with selected contacts. They will also not be able to post public comments or use the Duet and Switch features, which allow users to create shared content videos. In addition, content that promotes hate or violent ideologies is prohibited.

Extreme violence

A recent lawsuit filed against the TikTok app alleges that its moderators ignored a warning that violent content isn’t permitted. TikTok’s founders have agreed to pay $20 million to content moderators in the future if they fail to moderate content. But the company has yet to comment on the case. It hasn’t responded to a request for comment.

The DHS has taken action against users who promote violent content on the site. However, the agency is still behind in catching up. In the lead-up to the Capitol riots, the DHS flagged videos and posts that advocate violence. One such user encouraged protesters to carry firearms. Others shared instructions for sabotage and tunnel access to the White House. The DHS’s alert has been published to help policymakers better understand the role of these digital platforms in violent extremism.

Harassment of animals

Although a recent survey by the Asia For Animals Coalition found that nearly 5,480 links on TikTok were related to animal abuse, the controversial video-sharing app still allows users to post videos. Animal abuse is particularly shocking and is against the platform’s guidelines. While the majority of TikTok videos are not filmed in the wild, some people take extreme measures to gain fame on the platform. One TikTok user even tied an elastic band around a cat’s head in order to force its ears to stand up.

Despite the site’s ban on animal abuse, some animal charities have been raising awareness of the issue on the social network. A popular video-sharing app called TikTok has become a focal point for animal abuse and has even launched a campaign urging TikTok to crack down on these videos. Animal charities say the app is not only a social media platform, but is also a way for people to express their anger and frustration.

Spamming

If you have been banned from TikTok, you should know why. Usually, it is due to spam activities, low visibility, or lack of interaction with the community. Nevertheless, if you are not sure why you were banned, you can contact TikTok’s support team. Temporary bans usually last for two to three days, but you may lose your account for longer periods of time.

You can report spammers on TikTok and they will investigate. If you are one of these spammers, you can contact the TikTok support team. If you receive an email or notification from TikTok, you should report it to prevent further spam. Otherwise, you can avoid spamming by blocking these people. Although it is tempting to leave them alone, if you notice that they continue to spam your account, you should delete their video and report them.

What is Not Allowed on TikTok?
