Noname was discovered on Chance The Rapper&#8217;s Acid Rap mixtape. She followed it up with the 2016 mixtape Telefone, which she used to release her debut studio album, Room 25. The album was notable for its sharp commentary on race, sex, and politics. Noname has slowly shed the air of anonymity and emerged as a conscious rap star.<\/p>\n<p>Noname has an active book club and promotes social justice movements. In addition to her own book club, Noname also hosts discussions of two literary works each month. Her first selection for August was Paulo Freire&#8217;s Pedagogy of the Oppressed and Samantha Irby&#8217;s We Are Never Meeting in Real Life. These discussions will be released as podcasts.
