The network, WarnerMedia, plans to launch an internal investigation.<\/p>\n<p>This year, Ellen DeGeneres lost more Twitter followers than any other celebrity. After all, she&#8217;s been a target of controversy. She lost 545,000 Twitter followers and 612,000 Instagram followers, amid accusations of workplace racism, intimidation, and sexual harassment. While this is a natural reaction to a public figure who is accused of inappropriate conduct, it&#8217;s unfortunate that Ellen DeGeneres has so many followers on social media.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Justin_Bieber\"><\/span>Justin Bieber<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>While a former U.S. president has the most followers on Twitter, Justin Bieber isn&#8217;t far behind. His Twitter account is responsible for 3 percent of Twitter traffic. One Twitter employee noted that &#8220;racks of servers are dedicated to Bieber&#8217;s account. His Twitter account gets thousands of interactions per second.&#8221; Regardless, his followers are not fake, and his Twitter account is certainly not fake.<\/p>\n<p>According to data from Twitter, Bieber now has 114 million followers. Lady Gaga, who originally began the service in 2005, is the only other person to top 25 million Twitter followers. Rihanna, Katy Perry, and Barack Obama have the second-most Twitter followers. Britney Spears is sixth, followed by Taylor Swift, and Shakira has eight million followers. Bieber&#8217;s followers on Twitter are not just followers, however.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Jennifer_Lopez\"><\/span>Jennifer Lopez<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Whether you&#8217;re looking for celebrity news, or just a quick fact about Jennifer Lopez, you&#8217;ll find it on Twitter. This multitalented entertainer has embraced a number of different professions, from music to acting to a clothing line and philanthropic foundation. She&#8217;s known as a triple threat and has received a wide range of press attention, including Forbes magazine&#8217;s list of the world&#8217;s most powerful people. On Twitter, she&#8217;s been active since October 2009, and her following has grown steadily ever since.<\/p>\n<p>A recent interview with Ben Affleck revealed that the actor and singer had rekindled their romance. Despite their rocky start, the couple&#8217;s romance was destined for success and continued to draw attention. In 2003, the couple announced that they would postpone their wedding. The subsequent publicity and media attention did little to change their minds, and the two split up shortly thereafter. Jennifer Lopez has now earned maximum Twitter followers.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Donald_Trump\"><\/span>Donald Trump<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>There are a couple of reasons why Donald Trump has the most followers on Twitter. First, he inherited 80 million-plus followers from his previous president. Second, social media platforms like Twitter grew in popularity. And, third, Trump was a regular user of Twitter before he entered the presidential race. So, his follower count was likely boosted by the popularity of his account. He had only 200k followers on his blog when he left office. However, since then, his following has increased by about five million. The recent increase in followers might be fake followers.<\/p>\n<p>In terms of sheer number of followers, Donald Trump has surpassed the other world leaders on Twitter. While Pope Francis is the most popular user of Twitter, he trails Trump by 4.5 million followers. In fact, the number of followers on Donald Trump&#8217;s Twitter account has doubled since he took office. Moreover, the number of interactions between Trump and his followers has also increased.
