Among his tweets, Musk has frequently mentioned cryptocurrencies and posts memes. The billionaire has amassed more than 23.9 million followers in January 2019, and he&#8217;s projected to surpass the 60 million mark by 2022. While this isn&#8217;t the most exciting news ever, it&#8217;s certainly worth a follow!<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Barack_Obama_is_the_most_followed_person_on_Twitter\"><\/span>Barack Obama is the most followed person on Twitter<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>The two-term president of the United States has 115 million followers on Twitter. It should come as no surprise that he has so many followers &#8211; he tweets about issues that are relevant to the world as well as his work with the Obama Foundation. However, Obama&#8217;s Twitter following hasn&#8217;t only reflected his work as president. Since he left office in 2017, his popularity hasn&#8217;t dwindled much, as measured by Twitter.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"One-in-five_Twitter_users_have_regretted_sharing\"><\/span>One-in-five Twitter users have regretted sharing<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>While it is true that social media is a shithole populated by Russian bots, abusive trolls, and the president of the United States, there are still some interesting nuggets and occasional &#8220;did they really just tweet that?&#8221; moments. One-in-five Twitter users have shared information that they&#8217;ve regretted. Here&#8217;s a list of regrettable tweets from some famous figures.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Twitters_popularity_among_males\"><\/span>Twitter&#8217;s popularity among males<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Despite the fact that 54% of Twitter users are male, the statistics show that 43% are female. These users are more likely to be Democrats than other members of the population, and they also tend to have different opinions than the general public. Moreover, they are more likely to say that blacks are being treated unfairly than whites, that immigrants are strengthening the U.S., and that women face barriers to advance in their fields.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Its_growing_internationally\"><\/span>It&#8217;s growing internationally<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Global expansion is a positive sign for Twitter, which has more users outside of the U.S. than anywhere else in the world. According to the company, more than 60% of Twitter users are located outside of the U.S., up from 40% a year ago. This growth is particularly apparent in Latin America, where the company expanded a lot between 2012 and 2014. The majority of Africa and Central Asia are largely void of geotagged tweets, but Twitter has gained traction in northwestern India and northern Pakistan. Geographically, Western Europe has far fewer tweets geotagged from this region than does Central and Eastern Asia.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Its_a_male-dominated_platform\"><\/span>It&#8217;s a male-dominated platform<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>While social networking has a female-dominant profile on Facebook, Twitter is an exception. According to a study from the Harvard Business School, Twitter is dominated by men. The study&#8217;s sample population was made up of nearly 300,000 randomly chosen users. Eighty percent of them were already on the social networking site, while twenty percent had never used the platform. This study also shows that Twitter is more male-dominated than Facebook or LinkedIn, in terms of overall users. The study also found that women make up 55% of the platform&#8217;s user base.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Its_more_popular_than_other_social_networks\"><\/span>It&#8217;s more popular than other social networks<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>While Twitter is a popular social networking website, its global user base is not as diverse as some of the other major social networks. Pew Research Center reports that Facebook is the most popular social network, followed by LinkedIn. Twitter has a slightly left-leaning user base, with 65% of its audience identifying as a democrat.
