If Musk and Agrawal are indeed the next CEO of Twitter, the company is headed in the right direction.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Beykpour\"><\/span>Beykpour<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Beykpour is an experienced executive with a long list of credits, including co-founding Terriblyclever Design, one of the first mobile applications for higher education, and serving on the executive team at Blackboard. He was previously CEO of Turn, a startup that was acquired by Yahoo! in 2015, and COO of BrightRoll, which was purchased by Twitter. Before joining Twitter, he spent eight years at Google, most recently as a director of engineering.<\/p>\n<p>Beykpour joined Twitter through a live video application called Periscope in July 2018. He was later promoted to GM, Consumer, in December 2021. While there, he oversaw all Twitter&#8217;s consumer-facing app teams, including Product, Engineering, Design, Research, Customer Service, and Operations. He will also lead the company&#8217;s strategy and product strategy. Beykpour will continue to work on new features, like subscriptions and video sharing.<\/p>\n<p>Beykpour&#8217;s departure comes as a surprise. Twitter is in turmoil after Elon Musk announced a $44 billion bid for the company. But Beykpour didn&#8217;t blame Musk&#8217;s takeover for his departure. He blamed his own boss for forcing him out. He did not mention Elon Musk&#8217;s takeover, but said that the takeover made the situation worse.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Musk\"><\/span>Musk<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Elon Musk is the CEO of Tesla, SpaceX, and SpaceX. After his stake was disclosed, big tech observers speculated that Musk would pass on the CEO role at Twitter. However, Musk is already giving financial projections for the company. Saudi Prince Alwaleed bin Talal, a Twitter investor, wrote that Musk would be a great leader for Twitter once it goes private. Musk has been the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX for over five years.<\/p>\n<p>While Elon Musk has publicly expressed his desire to buy Twitter, he has also indicated that he has no confidence in the company&#8217;s management. Musk is reportedly planning to take over the company from current CEO Parag Agrawal and keep him in the role until it is sold to him. Musk has said that he is not satisfied with the management team at Twitter, and he wants someone who can bring in fresh ideas and grow the company.<\/p>\n<p>Founder and CEO Jack Dorsey stepped down after a long tenure as CEO. Musk has publicly criticized Twitter&#8217;s content moderation policy and fake accounts, and the CEO of SpaceX has spoken out against his former boss. In an eleven-day span, a board meeting went from installing a poison pill to agreeing to sell the company. Musk&#8217;s comments on Twitter&#8217;s management fueled skepticism and speculation amongst board members.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Agrawal\"><\/span>Agrawal<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>While the company is on track for an IPO, Agrawal has already fired two high-profile executives. He also paused most hiring and curtailed discretionary spending. The CEO also plans to use machine learning to enhance Twitter&#8217;s features. He plans to increase the company&#8217;s appeal to new users and launch new products faster. The company&#8217;s board went from considering installing a poison pill to agreeing to a sale in 11 days.<\/p>\n<p>After studying computer science at Stanford University, Agrawal joined Twitter as a software engineer. He was hired during a period when the company was in its infancy and the company was experimenting with machine learning and targeted advertising. Agrawal built a reputation as a top engineer and focused on timeline structure. This positioned him to be the company&#8217;s next CEO. He will also oversee the Bluesky project, which aims to build a decentralized social network.<\/p>\n<p>Elon Musk has been criticizing Twitter&#8217;s management. Musk even compared Agrawal and Dorsey to real-life Stalin and Yezhov, the real-life leader who ordered the assassination of his political rival. Musk even asked Twitter followers whether they wanted the tweet sorting algorithm to be publicly known and whether the company adheres to free speech ideals.
