The new owner is reportedly threatening to walk away from the deal if he believes Twitter is actively resisting the rights of information creators. Musk claims that the platform is home to around 20% fake accounts, which he says is not accurate. Musk also called on the SEC to review the numbers reported by Twitter in its filings. Regardless of the motivations behind Musk&#8217;s bid, he is making a sound business decision for his company.<\/p>\n<p>The Twitter stock price has soared 30% on Monday after the news broke. However, despite the negative press, Musk has repeatedly clashed with regulators regarding his use of the social networking site. Twitter&#8217;s moderation policy has been criticized, but Musk is defending his decision to buy the company. The CEO has been criticizing Twitter&#8217;s moderation policy for blocking former President Donald Trump from its platform. Musk&#8217;s ownership of the company, however, remains at 9.2%.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Jack_Dorsey\"><\/span>Jack Dorsey<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Tesla Inc.&#8217;s Elon Musk has publicly questioned the leadership of Twitter, and Musk&#8217;s latest tweets about the company&#8217;s strategy are no surprise. Musk tweeted that Twitter&#8217;s board members should get a salary of $0, saving the company $3 million a year. Dorsey is CEO of Square and holds a seat on the board of Twitter. The current term of his board membership expires in May.<\/p>\n<p>In 2016, Republican presidential nominee Mark Zuckerberg and Facebook CEO Jack Dorsey were called before Congress and testified against the social media giant. The company&#8217;s founders defended their businesses and the CEOs regularly used barrel saunas and ice baths to keep cool. In addition, Dorsey said he and Facebook co-founder Mark Zuckerberg &#8220;sweated&#8221; over the ice bath every morning.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Biz_Stone\"><\/span>Biz Stone<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>&#8220;Twitter&#8221; is a popular micro-blogging service founded by American entrepreneur Christopher Isaac &#8220;Biz&#8221; Stone. Stone is also the co-founder of Xanga and Jelly, two search engines based on visual imagery and discovery. Before founding Twitter, Stone served as the creative director of Xanga and Jelly from 1999 to 2001. After launching these services, he realised that a mass audience was missing out on the benefits of microblogging.<\/p>\n<p>In his early days, Stone was an artist. He was involved in the early designs of Twitter while working at his startup Odeo. Although he wasn&#8217;t given tons of equity, he did get the title of &#8220;co-founder.&#8221; This title became priceless as the social networking service grew to become a global phenomenon. Today, Stone lives near San Francisco with his wife Livia and their son Jacob.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Evan_Williams\"><\/span>Evan Williams<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Evan Clark Williams is an American billionaire who co-founded several technology companies including Twitter. During his tenure at Twitter, he served as chairman and CEO. Before Twitter, Williams was the founder of Blogger and Medium. Today, he has made millions of dollars selling several different technology businesses. You may have heard of him as the man behind the Twitter logo or as the CEO of Twitter. The billionaire&#8217;s latest venture is a social networking site that has gained worldwide attention and popularity.<\/p>\n<p>According to Bloomberg, Williams owned 29 million shares of Twitter at the end of April 2017, down from 11 million shares in February 2019. That makes him the company&#8217;s largest individual shareholder. He also owns shares in blogging platform Medium. As of May 2018, Williams owned 3.86% of Twitter shares, which is a significant amount. However, Twitter&#8217;s shares are still in demand, and the company isn&#8217;t letting him sit on the board of directors for too long.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Facebook\"><\/span>Facebook<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>If you&#8217;re wondering if Twitter is owned by Facebook, the answer is probably yes. It&#8217;s the latest scandal to hit Facebook, after the Winkelvoss twins&#8217; $375 million funding round. The company is backed by a wealthy Russian oligarch, who also invested in VKontakte, the largest social network in Russia. Founders Peter Thiel and Yuri Milner are part of the Digital Sky group, which owns Zynga and Groupon and is in talks to purchase a large stake in Twitter.<\/p>\n<p>Former executive David A. Ebersman, who joined Facebook in 2009 after working at Genentech, is the company&#8217;s CFO. He was brought in to the company after the previous CFO, Gideon Yu, resigned. Facebook wanted someone with public company experience to oversee its finances. Ebersman has 2.1 million Facebook shares and 7.5 million of restricted stock.
