But Musk may also be gambling on a return to the &#8216;good old days&#8217; when users were more liberal, when the site was far less polarizing.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier this month, the Twitter board was poised to implement a &#8220;poison pill&#8221; plan that would allow current shareholders to buy more stock at a discount, reducing the number of shares available for new investors. Musk, however, changed that policy, and the deal was finalized on April 25. Musk, who owns a small portion of Tesla, said he would allow former President Donald Trump to rejoin Twitter. Despite the controversy, however, most users will not be leaving the site anytime soon.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Elliott_Management\"><\/span>Elliott Management<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>It&#8217;s no secret that Elliott Management owns a significant stake in Twitter. The firm&#8217;s 9% stake in the company is the largest in the world, and the company has struggled to grow since its inception. However, the recent deal between Twitter and Elliott Management, whose partner Jesse Cohn serves on Twitter&#8217;s board, has many people wondering why the company is still in trouble. Aside from the controversy, this new deal could help Twitter&#8217;s prospects, as investors have a greater say in its decision making.<\/p>\n<p>However, the company&#8217;s CEO, Jack Dorsey, has been under fire recently. Conservatives have complained that Dorsey&#8217;s actions have silenced their voices, and users have criticized the toxic environment on the social networking site. Many democracy advocates worry that Twitter is a playground for state actors. According to a recent disclosure, the Vanguard Group owns 82.4 million shares of the company, or about 10.3 percent of its total shares. The group had previously owned 7.4 million shares, or 8.8 percent, of the company. That increased to $10.1 billion in the third quarter. However, the Vanguard Group may not be ready to sell its Twitter stake anytime soon.<\/p>\n<p>Twitter was previously owned by Tesla CEO Elon Musk, who bought a 9.1% stake in the company earlier this month. Currently, Musk owns 73.1 million shares, worth $3 billion. By comparison, Vanguard owned 67.2 million shares of Twitter in December of 2020, which made it the largest individual shareholder in the company. That puts Musk in a tough spot compared to Jack Dorsey, who is the second largest individual shareholder of Twitter.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Twitter_Inc\"><\/span>Twitter, Inc.<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Twitter, Inc. is an American communications company headquartered in San Francisco, California. Its shares have fluctuated over time. Twitter&#8217;s stock price is down by approximately 35% over the past year. The company has been the subject of several lawsuits.
