It would take an even more significant acquisition to give Musk control of the company.<\/p>\n<p>While Musk&#8217;s acquisition of Twitter has generated several trending topics on Twitter, the user reactions were a mixed bag, reflecting a range of political and cultural perspectives. Many users used the hashtag #RIPTwitter and #twittersold to express their thoughts. However, many users raised questions about the future of the company and the role of the new owner. The two companies have agreed to invest $1 billion in Twitter and use the money to fund a $2 billion stock buyback program. The deal also involves the appointment of two new independent directors, one from Elliott and one from Silver Lake. In addition to his replacement, the board unanimously appointed Parag Agrawal as its new CEO. In an email to employees, Dorsey explained that his resignation is to give Agrawal more space to lead Twitter.<\/p>\n<p>In recent months, Jack Dorsey has faced scrutiny for the content that he allows to appear on the social media site. The CEO of Twitter was criticized by the Southern Poverty Law Center for his connections to far-right figures. This led to a series of criticisms of the company&#8217;s role in the events of Jan. 6, including the murder of four people by far-right neo-Nazis. A prominent activist fund called Elliott Management pressured Dorsey to step down after he said he wanted to spend half a year in Africa.
