Another feature of the Portal is the ability to control its display brightness, voice effects, and camera settings. Users can also set their own password for privacy and security.<\/p>\n<p>The Facebook Portal is compatible with both Android and iOS devices. It has a new Storytime feature, which allows users to enhance videos using music, animation, and other effects. Although, the Storytime feature is limited to one Portal device, it is a great way to keep friends connected. Facebook Messenger App is also built-in, so you can stay in touch with your friends through Facebook&#8217;s portal. With all these features, Facebook is working hard to make the Portal a better experience for users.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Price\"><\/span>Price<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>The Facebook Portal Go takes advantage of the touchscreen with a multi-functional display that can be positioned anywhere in the room. This device is room-to-room portable and lets users make video calls from anywhere in the house. But its music performance and some software limitations make it unimpressive for business purposes. Nonetheless, if you regularly use Facebook Messenger, the Portal Go is a solid choice with robust enterprise videoconferencing support.<\/p>\n<p>The Portal can listen to music, stream movies, and play digital photos. It also includes Alexa and can serve as a hub for your smart home. Its price is $99, which is a lot more affordable than its competition. If you&#8217;re concerned about privacy, you can always unplug the Portal from your phone and use it for free. You&#8217;ll also need a Facebook or WhatsApp account to use the device.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Privacy_settings\"><\/span>Privacy settings<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>When you want to keep your personal information private, you should first turn on your privacy settings on the Facebook portal. By default, the Portal will tell friends when you&#8217;re online, so that they can call or message you. However, you can adjust the speed of this to prevent people from snooping through your personal information. You can also choose to only display photos from your Facebook profile or from friends who&#8217;ve been tagged in them.<\/p>\n<p>Besides collecting your data, the Portal also logs your camera and microphone settings. This lets it know who&#8217;s in the frame at the time the Portal crashed, and the distance between you and the microphone. Other data that it collects is your system logs, settings, ambient light, and third-party applications. You can even set which of these applications you use. Be sure to check your privacy settings on the Facebook portal to find out which of the applications are doing this.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Alexa_integration\"><\/span>Alexa integration<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>The Facebook Portal now includes Amazon Alexa built-in, which works the same way as on other devices. Using the Facebook portal, you can ask Alexa to play music, set a timer, or control other smart devices in your home. Simply say &#8220;Alexa&#8221; and Alexa will wake up and listen for your commands. You can even ask Alexa to play music by saying &#8220;Alexa!&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>While the Facebook Portal relies on Amazon&#8217;s Alexa voice assistant at launch, the company seems open to adding more voice assistants in the future. At launch, the Portal only comes with a few preinstalled apps, including Messenger, Watch, Pandora, Spotify, iHeartRadio, and The Food Network. While the Facebook Portal looks great, privacy concerns remain, so it&#8217;s not a must-have for everyone.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Display_quality\"><\/span>Display quality<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>The Facebook Portal is a new smart display that is similar to a digital picture frame. When not in use, it looks like a picture frame. Its 10-inch touchscreen is surrounded by an ersatz matte border, which costs more than a regular picture frame border, and there is a tiny gap on the side that allows audio to pass through but covers the actual speakers. It is one of the first Facebook products to offer this feature.<\/p>\n<p>The Facebook Portal has two models in its lineup. The Portal Go costs $199, and the Portal Plus costs $349. The Portal Plus comes with a 14-inch tilting screen, high-fidelity speakers, and a smart camera, but its price tag may make it out of reach for some users.
