The list shows that 14 million people had their profile details stolen. Another 15 million people had only their name. However, it&#8217;s still unknown if any other accounts were compromised. Currently, Facebook has no word on whether any of its users&#8217; private messages or account posts were read or stolen. It&#8217;s possible that the hackers were blackmailers, Russian intelligence agents, or trolls.<\/p>\n<p>Once you realize your account has been hacked, you may begin receiving suspicious messages and emails. You might also receive attempts to recover your account. Identifying yourself is the first step, but once you have done that, you&#8217;ll want to contact Facebook and let them know you&#8217;re concerned. The company will then provide instructions for how to deal with the issue. When you&#8217;re finished, click on &#8220;Save Changes.&#8221;<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Recovering_from_a_hacked_Facebook_account\"><\/span>Recovering from a hacked Facebook account<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>After learning of your account&#8217;s recent hack, you may want to try to recover it as quickly as possible. Facebook provides an option to recover a hacked account through a trusted friend. To do so, you should add three friends to your list who are familiar with your account and have access to your password. You should enter these friends&#8217; email addresses, phone numbers, and names as verification. After a few days, you should be able to log into your account again.<\/p>\n<p>First, contact Facebook to verify your identity. You may have to verify your identity, so be prepared to wait a couple of weeks. You may also be asked to send a photo of your ID as proof of identity. Once you&#8217;ve confirmed your identity, you&#8217;ll be able to recover your account. Once you&#8217;ve verified your identity, you can then proceed with the next steps.
