Now that Facebook is more focused on business customers, the company is focusing on business products and has moved away from the smart home market. But what should you expect from the brand Meta?<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Meta_has_slowed_its_pursuit_of_AR_glasses\"><\/span>Meta has slowed its pursuit of AR glasses<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>The company has halted its plans to sell augmented reality glasses, after spending three years on development. Although the company had hoped to make money by 2024, the delays are now likely the result of cost-cutting measures. The company has already put several projects on hold or canceled. It has also put a halt to the development of a camera-equipped smartwatch. However, the company has not given up on developing other wearable devices for its Portal.<\/p>\n<p>As a result of the difficulties associated with creating the AR glasses, Meta has slowed its pursuit of the Facebook Portal smart display device. The company has also stopped recruiting engineers across most divisions. The company&#8217;s AR plans are now focused on developing a device for business users and not the consumer market. Although the company continues to invest in developing the device, the company is also facing slower revenue growth, forcing it to stop hiring new employees in most of its divisions.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Facebooks_video_calling_hardware\"><\/span>Facebook&#8217;s video calling hardware<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Although Facebook&#8217;s video calling hardware is no longer sold in stores, the social network has announced two new devices: Portal+ and Portal Go. The new devices are aimed at helping small businesses leverage video calling and are both available for purchase. Facebook is not saying exactly how many users the new devices will reach. However, the company claims to have 750 million users. A spokeswoman for Facebook says the new hardware is the first portable version.<\/p>\n<p>The company will also discontinue its consumer-oriented Portal devices and re-brand them as business-oriented devices. The decision is a result of the company&#8217;s recent cutbacks in investments in its Reality Labs hardware unit. The decision may impact the Facebook Portal line, but Meta will continue selling its current inventory and providing long-term support for its existing customers. The Portal line was popular among businesses during the COVID pandemic and garnered positive reviews from consumers.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Its_privacy_practices\"><\/span>Its privacy practices<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>When Facebook announced its latest product, the Facebook Portal, it was doomed from the start by concerns over trust. Nonetheless, Facebook executives were forced to resign and apologize for their lack of candor.<\/p>\n<p>While the company flipped its policy, it clarified that the data it collects is not used for ad targeting. This makes it more difficult to argue that Portal is a purely neutral video conferencing system. Facebook says that it has no plans to use the data collected from Portal for any other purpose, but VP Rafa Carmago said that the company could use the data to target ads on its other properties.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Its_photo_management_app\"><\/span>Its photo management app<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Facebook has stopped developing the photo management app that allows users to manage their pictures on the Facebook Portal. While the original version only allowed users to upload photos to Facebook, the updated version of the app now allows users to add photos from other sources, including their music accounts and mobile phones. The app will also allow users to toggle which photos appear in the superframe. The photo management app is available on iOS and Android devices. It is also free, and users can download it for both systems.<\/p>\n<p>Facebook Portal is a large, inoffensive device. Available in black and white, the device can be set up in portrait or landscape orientation. Despite its slightly larger size, the Facebook Portal has the same basic design as a digital photo frame. While the design gives off hints of a camera and sensors, the device is not quite as bulky as the 15.6-inch Plus.
