Tap the three horizontal dots (&#8230;) button on their profile and then select Block. Tap &#8216;Add more people to block&#8217; if you want to add more people to your list. You can also choose to block a list of people, or all of them.<\/p>\n<p>Once you&#8217;ve decided to block someone, you&#8217;ll be notified when they next post to your timeline. If you want to avoid further communication with them, you can block them from responding to you, commenting on your posts, and sending you invitations. The process of blocking someone is simple: click on their three dots menu located below their cover photo. Click on &#8220;Confirm&#8221; to confirm your decision. Once you&#8217;ve confirmed your decision, go to the person&#8217;s profile page and follow the steps.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Changing_privacy_settings_in_a_desktop_browser\"><\/span>Changing privacy settings in a desktop browser<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Changing privacy settings on Facebook is easier when you&#8217;re on a desktop browser than it is when you&#8217;re on a mobile device. On mobile devices, you&#8217;ll have to go through a multi-page privacy checkup before you can adjust your settings. On desktop computers, you can simply log in to your Facebook account, click the downward arrow in the upper-right corner of the page, and select the &#8220;Account&#8221; menu. From there, choose &#8220;Settings.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>If you don&#8217;t want your profile to appear on search engine results, you can choose to turn off the active status for your Facebook contacts. However, because search engines cache the results, you might have to go through all your settings one by one. In this case, you&#8217;ll want to use mental models to decide which settings to change, but if you&#8217;re going to use a single category, you&#8217;ll need to consider the changes.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Changing_privacy_settings_in_a_mobile_app\"><\/span>Changing privacy settings in a mobile app<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Changing privacy settings on a mobile app on Facebook is as easy as tapping the menu icon at the bottom-right corner of the app. Android users should tap their profile image and scroll to the bottom to find it. If you&#8217;re using a mobile web browser, tap the three horizontal lines near the top right corner of the page. Once there, tap the privacy tab. You&#8217;ll find several options, including the ability to limit the use of third-party data.<\/p>\n<p>The privacy settings for the mobile app are largely the same as those on the desktop version. However, if you want to change the settings for a specific post, activity log, or location, you can go to the Privacy section. You can also use the privacy checkup tool to search for the particular settings you want to change. Although this may make changing privacy settings on Facebook easier, you may find it more difficult to change your settings if you already use it regularly. From the left-hand column, select &#8220;Disable search engine link to my profile.&#8221; Once you&#8217;ve made this change, Facebook will no longer be able to find your profile in search results.<\/p>\n<p>Facebook&#8217;s privacy settings can take several weeks to take effect. However, the changes you make will still remain in the search engine cache, so you&#8217;ll have to wait a few weeks before the results begin to appear. It may take some time for the change to appear, so you should check back periodically. You can still access your privacy settings and change the permissions on your profile.
