Chen was born in Taiwan and moved to the United States with his family in 1993. He went on to study computer science at the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign and graduated in 2002. Chen first met other YouTube founders while working for PayPal. He also worked for Facebook and Twitter before joining Google Ventures in 2014.<\/p>\n<p>YouTube is a video-sharing website. The site is a global phenomenon with over a billion views per day and hundreds of hours of content posted every minute. Before starting YouTube, Hurley was a designer with eBay&#8217;s PayPal division. He founded the company with Jawed Karim and Steve Chen, two former colleagues from the Taipei office.<\/p>\n<p>Originally, YouTube started in Hurley&#8217;s garage. He relied on friends from PayPal to create the components for the site. The founders eventually hired employees from PayPal, and the company incorporated in the early 2000s.
